Stovells Chobham - Woking

I 've been a massive fan of Stovell 's for years and this was the first time I 've been back however for a couple of years. We were massively disappointed in our visit and can only assume there is a different chef and different owners. The care, attentiveness, food quality, and preparation quality used to be excellent. However, not this time. The produce used, from the bread on the table to the quality of meat, was incredibly poor chewy lamb and steak; browning beef carpaccio; stale, store bought bread. Service was endearing from a young, untrained staff seemed like little management, and certainly not attentive. No follow up if we were enjoying our meal etc. Cocktails at the beginning were obviously not made by someone who knows how to make cocktails. Such a shame that we have lost a great out of town restaurant.

Through a transition of new property and management, but standards still high as they have always been. I look forward to seeing the outcome of the planned changes.

Although friendly service was unskilled, uncertain and not as expected in this class of restaurants. the eating was partly good, but some things that are not understandable, like three small raw vegetables with wild leaves in a pot of rug strangely tasting humus for amuse bouche. starter filled courgette came raw small cheese filling, tasteless, bad dressing. mushrooms for the pornstar we are delicious but portion small, as for a starter. bad choice of the wee, we should have brought ourselves, like the neighboring. chairs wobbly, teppich full of stains. all together the place does not live up to its potential.

No Sunday menu despite advertised online. Really loud table took away from atmosphere. Service not as good as similar standard restaurants- overpriced for the experience

A lovely intimate restaurant. The food was very well presented and delicious. The service was great. Highly recommended for a place to take someone with a little bit of wow factor.
