We waited for nearly three years (Covid and pandemic complications) and it was well worth the wait. Autumn views on the drive up and on the dinner train ride are one in a lifetime. Our server/waitress Kelly made us feel like we were at her place, warm and friendly. You will not regret the day or the hospitality. View all feedback.
What Maggie V doesn't like about Wisconsin Great Northern Railroad:
Something to do but not anything super special. Not easy to know how to order non meat pizza when you order online, no real tutorial or narrative about what we were seeing, and a girl can at least use a glass of wine if I have to sit on a train this long. View all feedback.
A fun way to spend an evening with a loved one! We had a great time on the train but the ride is quite short. We didn't realize how little distance you actually travel before parking and reversing back down the track. Meal is amazing. We had such great food that was a huge plus. With the food you get, neither my wife or I could finish it all! Make sure you save room for dessert because that cheesecake is to die for. Beer and wine are very reasonable, fair bar prices I would say. For a couple dinner, and 6 drinks plus tip we ended up spending $151. We will go again.

My husband and I got the Groupon. We were pretty excited, he had never been on a train before! I don't believe that I ever expected top notch food, we were on that train for the experience not a five star meal, so we were pleasantly surprised by the good food. Again, not foodie material but our salads weren't icebox lettuce, the chicken kiev was juicy with cranberries inside and my husbands steak was just fine. I really loved the staff and the train was so cool. The lounge car was impeccably restored and I got an awesome retro photo of myself on it. The first class Dianne car was very cool, I wish we had the cha-ching to stay there, with the full beds and all. Our cabin was super small, but that's all part of the train travel experience! Breakfast was great, excellent french toast with coffee and orange juice (plus eggs and sausage I didn't try. I enjoyed it enough that I am seriously considering taking my Dad up for the Fathers Day brunch. He would love this thing.
This is a charming and relaxed family-friendly experience. We took the dinner train as a group of four, and it was delightful. The food is home-cooked, straightforward, and satisfying, with generous portions. There's a full bar on board with impressively reasonable drink prices—premium liquors at great rates. The staff is wonderful; everyone was very friendly and efficient.
We had a pretty big group on the pizza train. All of us had a great time on the train. All personnel on the train were wonderful. Very well managed on the train. We got all of our pizzas at the same time. Again all personnel on the train were great. I'm only giving a two star because the owner was so rude to my family in the gift shop. She literally shouted, so loudly that my husband who was in the other room heard everything she said. I'm assuming she was the owner. If not, and she was staff, she should be reprimanded or let go. She turned a really nice family day out into a disturbing experience. WILL NOT DO THIS AGAIN or RECOMMEND TO ANYONE.
