D'parma - Winthrop
D'parma
Description
A charming, family-run Italian beloved for classic pastas, chicken dishes, lobster ravioli and a standout cannoli, with reasonable prices, outdoor seating and a broad menu that keeps regulars coming. Many diners praise fresh, speedy dine-in service, but experiences vary: takeout quality and phone interactions can be inconsistent, and the interior feels a bit dated. A rewarding neighborhood spot for pasta lovers, yet visitors should be prepared for variability between visits and locations.

Overall a very nice place for lunch or dinner, with a few caveats. Excellent bread is brought to your table, but beware, it 's accompanied by what looks and tastes like palm oil, not olive oil. So use the butter. Wonderful salads and excellent house-made vinaigrette dressing. But my Caprese consisted of pale flavorless tomato slices accompanied by small bits of fresh mozzarella and just a pinch of finely-chopped basil leaves, quite disappointing. They need to have some good tomatoes on hand and some thick-sliced fresh mozzarella in case anyone orders the Caprese, or else just tell me it 's unavailable. The Chicken Piccata is the best I 've had anywhere and the other pasta dishes are delicious as well. I 've been disappointed by various specials which are pricey and often adventurous, not in a good way. But if you stick with the regular menu, you will have a nice meal. D 'Parma used to have lines out the door when it was a BYO place, people would come from miles around. I wonder if it made economic sense to begin serving liquor. We were going to order a bottle of Kendall Jackson Chardonnay $13 at the liquor store) for the table but it was $40, which just felt wrong. A moderate-price restaurant should offer moderate markups on a bottle of wine. I hope they get it right. If they crunch the numbers and go back to BYO, I for one would be thrilled. If they provide pure olive oil with their excellent bread, that would be a nice improvement, too. They refuse to serve me 10 min before they closed, i don't get why you have a time to close if you are not gonna respect that. I'm not coming back
Good is always great, take out counter is ok wish they would smile a bit more I know it can be busy and stressful but, no one expects you to be perfect! I leave don't this type of work over 20 years service with a smile is most important! The atmosphere is cute but, for me personally it's dark and gloomy maybe a bit outdated. Overall this place though has great food, I order here at least 2 times a week when I work,I have had the other 2 locations as well! I tried to call and place an order instead the phone got thrown on the counter and I got to listen to everybody else’s conversation in another language for five minutes and then she was rushing me to get an order done. She couldn’t even say hello when she answered the phone, she just threw it on the counter cause I could hear it, I do not recommend to anybody Service: Take out Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $20–30 Service: 1
