There was a nice covered terrace outside that made the unreasonably long wait time for food much more tolerable. Food was very good but it was over one hour for our order to come out. Waitress came at least 4 times to apologize And explained that they only had five people in the back helping to make and prepare food. I guess a byproduct of Covid and difficulty hiring. What Kayy G doesn't like about Dexter's New Standard:
We made a rsvp for 1130 got there on time sat for two hours ! Got our appetizer at 1 after getting the manager involved because the waiter avoided the table. We knew it was a busy day and could tell they were short staffed but that was unacceptable. We didn’t get to eat and just got frustrated and left @130 because the waiter said I food order was two spots behind View all feedback.
Went to Dexters New Standard last night for dinner and to listen to one of my favorite local bands. I have been disappointed by the food every time I’ve gone there except one time. The first time that I went there after they moved to the new location, I ordered the hamburger. The patty was the size of a slider and put on a regular sized bun. It was the most ridiculous variation in size I had ever seen for a burger. I asked for lettuce and tomato on it and the server told me that they didn’t have lettuce or tomato….in the entire kitchen…..and that the burger comes as is and the chef doesn’t allow changes to the burger. On another experience, I ordered the wings, asked for ranch dressing and the server says that they don’t have ranch…..in the entire kitchen… and that they only serve it with blue cheese dressing. I would venture to say that ranch dressing is probably more popular than blue cheese. How can they not offer both? Now getting back to my experience last night. 3 people in my party ordered chicken piccata and this is what they served us. Chicken in marsala sauce with capers in it. There was absolutely not a even a hint of lemon in the sauce. There was no butter, no wine, and it was dark brown like marsala (which they had on the menu). I knew it had to be a mistake. The server told me that “the chef said this is chicken piccata”. I asked the server if I could speak to the manager and he never came by. I can’t believe any chef would try to pass off marsala sauce as piccata sauce just by adding capers in it. If not for the live music there, I would never step foot in that place.
Food was great, we really enjoyed the experience. The scenery was beautiful we’ll definitely be back.

The food and service were amazing. We were aware that there would be live music, but we didn't anticipate it would be so loud. If we decide to come back, it will be on a night without entertainment.
The wine selection was quite impressive. I may have overlooked the details in the chicken piccata description, as I was a bit disappointed to find it served with brown gravy instead of the white wine butter sauce I had anticipated. Interestingly, despite the restaurant being relatively empty at around 6:30 PM, the service was surprisingly slow. It seems that many restaurants have this ironic tendency: the service tends to improve when they are busier. I had to flag down both the hostess and our waitress multiple times, as they appeared quite bored. The solo guitarist added a nice touch, and while the ambiance was lively, it wasn’t overly intrusive. I had a lovely chat with an old friend during our visit. I would definitely recommend this place! The menu changes regularly and seasonally, which I find impressive and commendable. This is actually the third iteration of Dexters; I remember the original location on Fairbanks, then their move to Hannibal Square, and now to Ravendauge. All transitions have been executed very well.
