My server was amazing! I felt the restaurant was not accommodating to my reservation. I waited 49 mins to be seated for a 5-7 reservation and then was told we would only have an hour to eat. This alone is frustrating and was a distraction to our dinner. An important business meeting turned into a rushed setting. A group of 5 of us went for happy hour. The bar staff was very attentive and food was delicious. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful. Only suggestion and slight disappointment is no one told us gratuity was automatically charged.
I wish I could say we loved it, we made a reservation on a Wednesday around 7:15 and made a note stating it was our first time and was celebrating a birthday, ideally a cute cozy table would be nice. We arrived and were not asked for a preference on seating in or out, we were walked outside to an ending table on the side of the restaurant. For close to $300 and a first time visit I can’t even say we really had any experience at all, I couldn’t tell you what the inside main dining room looked like. We spent the evening watching the sidewalk traffic occasionally catching our server, we had to ask for the door to be closed as it created a breezeway to our table which wasn’t in our favor. I’m sure it’s a wonderful place with the right crowd and when things are aligned, unfortunately this was not the case of us. We’ll give it another go but the devil is in the details.
It was my first time at Ava, the interior and ambiance were stunning. I think we were sat at the worst table in the restaurant but that didn’t ruin our experience, although I wish they offered us another table since we were celebrating an anniversary and there were many other tables available. Our server was great and very informative. We enjoyed a Greek salad, some yummy layered potato appetizer, we both got the Salmon entree and shared a berry custard dessert. The cocktails were delicious also. The only item we weren’t very impressed with was the Salmon, and the description mentioned an herb salad when there was one piece of herb on top of the salmon for garnish. I will definitely be back for another visit to try more things.
