Real Q - Winston-Salem

That's not good. it was sitting in the müllcontainer as soon as I came home! worst bbq i have I ever had! I have bbq in the eastern usa from florida, tennessee, texas, ohio, alabama, etc. this place should not mention what it serves barbecue. “If it is not over wood, it is not good” or something. I agree, but after tasting the bbq pork and mais fritte I wonder if they use invisible wood or if their customers still lack their taste buds after obtaining from covid. this place was an epic fail. pork tasted as if it had been boiled in a crock pot. no taste at all, no wood taste. the maisfritter were only deep roasted mais. no battery. no taste. no taste. I had better bbq from a food truck. sauce was terrible. it tasted as edgy without consistency and got the, “You are not from here, boy”, staring from the youngs on the back. seriously, I've never been so dissatisfied with food.

Dry grill and the only decent service. their sides were less than spectacular, but will give them the attempt a little later

Best pulled pork available in this city, hands down. Still doesn't quite measure up to some of the Carolina greats (like a few of the Lexington restaurants, or Bridges Barbecue Lodge in Shelby), but far, far better than anything else in Forsyth County.

Chopped bbq sandwich was awesome. Chooped good, lean and great flavor. Hush puppies and hot chips were also great!

I don't know what has happened to Real Q. My son comes home from Washington, DC every year and always insists on serving Real Q for our family Christmas lunch. Every year until this year, the BBQ has been consistently good. This year it was very dry and more finely chopped than usual. It looked and tasted warmed over. Thank goodness another family member had prepared other food for our family. The Real Q BBQ has been tossed out. What a disappointment and an unhappy ending to a family tradition that has been going on since 2004!
