Update: We order food through floods and I worry about food manipulation and what not (thanks to this attention cravin strange generation). They secure our food by holding the containers and the bag. New to me. This is the first Chinese restaurant ive tried in Winston. It was really good. Not disappointed. My sister has the sweet and sour rice. I have 4 egg rolls and a 20-piece Chinese donut. Everything was delicious... View all feedback.
What Lyric Watsica doesn't like about Number 1 Chinese Restaurant:
Do NOT expect to receive any customer service here. I asked if they would consider delivering to a location where they would receive multiple orders a day, several days a week. It was met with a hostile no! As I was asking something else, the lady behind the counter just walked off. I also placed my order online. I was given a 15 to 20 minute window to pick up. I came after 45 minutes and still had to wait 15 minutes... View all feedback.
Some of the other reviews had me worried to try this place but pretty much everything we ordered was delicious. We will definitely be ordering from here again! My favorite dishes were the Steamed Dumplings, the Chicken Wings, and the Veggie Lo Mein. The Pu Pu Platter was a good value sampling of the appetizers, most of which were also very tasty. I personally wasn’t a fan of the Crab Rangoons but that seems to be a matter of different regional styles and tastes so I’m not holding that against any local Chinese place. Rangoons are usually pinched together at the top creating a pouch of filling topped with a wonderfully crunchy “X” shape of fried wonton. Here, at every restaurant I’ve been to they are wrapped into triangles that have a weird, soggy, hard to chew yet not crunchy texture. If you haven’t had that style before I’d recommend ordering the Pu Pu Platter to try a few to see if you like them before committing to a full order. I ordered delivery through DoorDash. My order was fulfilled quickly, arrived hot, fresh, and was packaged well. They even staple the individual containers as well as the bag to make sure your order isn’t tampered with!
Chicken and broccoli were very salty. Be careful when you have high blood pressure. Not worth a picture.
You don't have Dim Sum Jumbo roasted shrimp, but it's good.
Wonton soup was above average, tasteful and had 5 sommes in a small size!
Ordered from one of the only places that had chinese open last night and figured hey with a name like No. 1 Chinese Restaurant the food is going to be solid ... To my complete horror verything was inedible....and I even gave a 20% tip!! We ordered 2 sesame seed chicken combos (one with shrimp fried rice and one with beef lo mein) and wonton soup. 1. The sesame seed chicken was raw and still pink on the inside. Like not just 1 piece....EACH. AND. EVERY. PIECE. 2. The shrimp fried rice had shrimp that wasn 't cleaned and had a weird smell to it. 3. The beef in the beef lo mein did not taste right, and not like beef at all? 4. The wonton in the wonton soup tasted like it had gone bad. Definitely would not recommend and I am waiting for them to open so I can get a refund.
