As a Winona resident who regularly have to leave town to get no American food, I'm always excited to open a new place in town. Johnny is new in town and you can say that the situation is new. As a resident of Winona who often has to travel for decent American food, I'm always eager to see new restaurants open in town. Johnny's is a recent addition, and it definitely brings a fresh vibe. However, the service was slow, even though I was the only customer at the time, and it felt like the staff were trying a bit too hard to make things work. The décor is quite sparse, and the atmosphere left something to be desired. I'm a bit concerned about dinner service. That said, in a city that offers many sandwich options, I believe a Pita Pit-style restaurant could do well here. The falafel was quite good, and I think I'll return in a few weeks to see how things improve. Here’s hoping this place sticks around!
We visited Johnny's for the first time today, and it was a great experience! My husband and I both tried the gyros, and they were outstanding. My husband, being a true Chicago native, is quite particular when it comes to this type of food. He was impressed and even said that Johnny's passed his test with flying colors! We only wish we had discovered this place sooner. We're excited to come back and try the beef sandwiches and Chicago-style hot dogs soon!
