We eat here at least twice a month. If your not sure what to order try - chicken pakoda, chana marsala, shrimp korma and butter chicken. The owner knows our order by heart and it's excellent every time! The owner is also very friendly as he talks to everyone in his restaurant. There is a buffet, but we enjoy our usual choices off the menu. I love their food!! View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Water Lily East Indian Restaurant:
$16.00 buffet dinner - sounds great.... the thing we did not appreciate was the server asking if we wanted things without telling us it was an extra cost. The server asked if our table wanted hot sauce as they do not put hot sauce on the food for the buffet. We thought sure why not put some kick to our meal but little did we know he was charging each hot sauce on our bill WITHOUT informing us. Naan bread is NOT included in the buffet either. We made reservations for 5:00 P.M. and the buffet food was not ready. When the samosa`s came out they were soiled with grease on the bottom. Food overall was okay I am just bothered by the way they go about things charging additional items on the bill without informing us before hand. For this reason I will not go back to this restaurant.
We have eaten lunches and suppers at Water Lily many times and have learned to order à la carte from the menu instead of opting for the less expensive buffet, because we never seem to arrive at a time when the buffet is complete--usually, there are only bones swimming in sauce for the meat selections!Water Lily offers great take out items--the vegetarian samosas are only $9.99 per dozen, and they are HUGE! We have ordered lamb, beef, goat, shrimp and chicken dishes in a variety of styles: palak, korma, curry and rogan josh--all of them have been absolutely delicious. We love the vegan and vegetarian options--especially chana masala (chickpea curry), eggplant bharta, and palak paneer. Just thinking about these foods is mouthwatering! Also, we enjoy sampling whatever desserts are in the cooler, ready for take-out.Service is courteous, but there is a long wait time for à la carte items to be prepared. Also, there is a bit of pressure placed on the diner to order extras. Those are the only pitfalls.
Excellent Indian food. Family-run, very personable service. Always helping pick good dishes and combinations.
My husband and I have been here a couple of times, mainly for gatherings with friends. Each time we leave we always say we will never return as the owner constantly tries to up sell the entire time you are eating. We also experienced the surprise at the bill with the extra $6charge for 2 tiny hot sauces we assumed were included in the buffet. Each time has been a terrible experience as we are constantly scammed and harassed to buy more items as we are eating a buffet. No I do not want extra samosas to purchase and take home after a buffet, or asking us to buy over priced alcoholic beverages several times while we try and eat. Naan bread is also a extra charge... And it is not worth the $5 as it seems like it had been bought across the street at Coop. How this place stays in business is unbelievable.
