I chose the Met for a gathering with friends because I was there a year ago and they served the best mac 'n cheese that I have ever had. In that respect, I was not disappointed. However ... I also had calamari, which was awful -- indistinguishable from little chunks of deep-fried spam. And, although our waiter was great, the meal service was extremely slow -- even though we were pretty much the only ones in the resta... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about The Allen Restaurant:
90 minutes for entrees to arrive, orders were incorrect as server went by memory. He even returned to the table and confirmed THREE times. We were late for our event. Despite entree being wrong, the server did apologize but it was too late to correct as we were tight on time. My guest ate what was presented but was not pleased. No effort was made to remove the entree from the total. Regrettable experience. View all feedback.
I took my friend here for a late Valentine's Day dinner. it was great. cozy restaurant environment, but very reasonable price menu. I had the special steak and lobster. the steak was great, the side of the carrots and the sweet were also great. lobster was just fine....We shared a Broccoli appetizer that was very good and had the mrs lachs. a large service of our waiter and drinks were also good. overall great experience and we will be safe again. I am looking forward to trying the dach terrace in this summer
The place was empty, except a table of 14. they ran out of calamari. the other table ate them all really. So we had another app all good. we ordered salat. but they delivered it with our meal. the kitchen was badly planned that the meals were ready at the same time as the salad. or the fact that there was only one server. who tried his best, but could not be anywhere at the same time. we had drinks. the second manager. was horrible. the meal I had had short ribs. no bones and taste. only hard meat prices. my wife had the nativity, and it was hard. it would be better that they would be close to putting such bad ad of food and short workers and service
Pricey yes, but my customers like it too. great dishes served by prompt and friendly staff. large wine cellar and the beer also flows. my steak was fabulous and our 3 hours there excellent.
New menu and first time st the all in this season. prime rib is back and along with yorkshire pudding not disappointed! we had the 3 course dinner feature that had good portioning and well presented. service was in front and in the middle with attentive waitress. cordial gratitude to the met.
Situated in The Met on Donald Street, across from the MTS centre, this restaurant is a very convenient location for going to a show. We've been here for dinner previously but this was the first time on the rooftop patio. It was very spacious. On...one side, you look down Donald street and at the MTS Centre; on the other, you can see a lovely old church and the Millenium Library on the other side of Graham Avenue. There are both traditional table seating as well as sofas. It was very quiet, with only a few other patrons when we arrived at 5pm. I'm not sure whether it isn't popular due to people not knowing about it or whether the Tavern United scene is more of to the public's liking, but I preferred this by far. It may also have been before the evening crowd normally arrives. The menu has a number of tantalizing appetizer options, salads, soups, sandwiches and burgers as well as flatbreads. Online, it appears we received the lunch menu, which was fine as we didn't have a huge appetite. The dinner menu has larger entree options. We ordered 2 appetizers: The Wild Mushroom and Parmesan Arancini, which they were unfortunately out of, and the Smoked Tomato and Bocconcini Dip, served with pita bread. This was tasty though I found we only used about half of the pita bread. For the main, I ordered the Crunch Salad, which was very fresh and tasty although much spicier than I expected. I typically like really spicy food so if you don't, you may want to ask for a different dressing. My husband ordered the starter cheddar soup, which was very thin for a cheese soup and tasted as though the cheese had separated and become a bit granular and the green onion strips sitting on the soup as a garnish were very tough and inedible. He also ordered the MET Salad, which was served with the balsamic dressing on the side without being asked, which was a nice touch. It was full of vegetables as well as chick peas, seeds, eggs and goat cheese. We ordered a bottle of wine to share. The one thing lacking was the service. Perhaps due to the few number of patrons on the roof. While I enjoyed the quiet, drinking in the glorious sunshine, we served our own water and wine and no one checked on us to see if we needed anything else. My experience having dinner at the restaurant indoors previously had fantastic service so perhaps this is something they can work on. I may also ask for the dinner menu in future. I'm not sure if it's available on the roof. I do like that you can make a reservation on Open Table as well as on their website.
