What User doesn't like about Southdale Village Family Restaurant:
Had the veal cutlet... the vegetables were the mixed frozen variety you get in a bag from the freezer section of a grocery store, the veal was tiny, gravy was from a can... there was no pride in this food. It is akin to hospital food. View all feedback.

We had a very enjoyable Mother's Day lunch. The service was very attentive and the food was extremely good; both taste and value. It's a very inauspicious location hence the "surprise" reference.
We are never disappointed with our meals at Southdale Village. The service is always friendly and the meals are always fresh and tasty. A great little spot to stop at for lunch or dinner if you're in the area.
Located just beside a Dollarama in a strip mall this restaurant is nothing fancy but serves good basic food. It was nice to see the certificates of the amount of time staff have worked here- several for over 20 years. That says something about the establishment. We both had the hamburger and it was very tasty. Sides of soup, potato or salad. The corn chowder was good and filling albeit with some previously frozen veggies in it I think. Four tv's on the wall. Attentive staff. The day we were here the debit/ credit card machine was not working.
I've eaten in this restaurant a number of times over the years but hadn't been here for a year or two. Maybe I should have just ordered the supper special but decided to go for the pickerel and greek salad. Usually everything that comes out of the kitchen is very generous portions, fresh and tasty but my salad looked and tasted like it was wore out from a long day of work and the pickerel tasted like it had been the last piece at the bottom of the freezer. The side of garlic mushrooms that came with the meal had been steamed rather than fried and were rubbery and flavourless. Maybe they had been at the bottom of the freezer with the pickerel.
