had moved away from Winnipeg for the last ten years and just moved back. Had a hankering for soup and since my old go to "soup pierre" no longer exists I decided to order this via skip the dishes. The soup was very flavourful, had a chicken noodle and a mushroom soup, we also shared a greek salad. If you've got a craving for tasty, comforting home cooked soup this is the place to go! The food is fresh delicious, with a nice wine selection. The staff is friendly helpful, keep the place very clean. The occasional Argentine Tango parties are a real treat! A lovely way to spend a Saturday evening, whether you're a dancer or a spectator. Love it!!
I walked in, checked out the menu, placed my order, and walked out with a fresh hot sandwich in under 10 minutes, even though the restaurant was nearly full. The quality and value were superb.
Really great soup!!! I’ve seen this place several times from the bus window and decided it was time I gave it a shot. Well worth it and I’ll be back!
I went for the first time today to do take-out, so I 'm only basing on that experience. Can 't comment on sit-down. I ordered zuppa Toscana, with an 'egg bun ' as choice of bread, and it was quite tasty, I would have that soup again. Had a good amount of spice and other flavours (could see the fennel). Although I expected more chunks of food and less broth, I didn 't feel I got good value for money. The egg bread was okay, a little sweet as advised but dry. Zuppa was mid-range soup category at $7 for their standard cup, which looks about 250 ml, not much. I upsized for $1, but I was still hungry after. I don 't like to be hungry after $9. They missed the mark on their 'take-out ' packaging. The bun came with a packet of butter, but no plastic knife. The plastic spoon was wrapped in napkin, sealed with scotch tape. Scotch tape? I had to be careful not to rip the napkin. Tape made it worse. Also, I had to sit and wait 5 min for it, with just one take-out person ahead of me. Not sure why it should take that long to scoop soup and package it up.That said, I would go back when I feel like spending a little more, and try the African peanut stew, that 's what it smells like in there. The restaurant inside looks clean and modern. I give the soup flavour a 4. Portion 3. Take-out Service 3.5. Pricing could be a slightly lower, but quality wise is better value than a chain coffee shop soup.
I really enjoy the Greek salad at this restaurant! However, I don't think it was worth the price for the amount of salad you get in a large portion.
