Well, I haven't been back to Winnipeg since 2004. I used to go to this place all the time while I was here last time so thought I'd check out the old haunt. They have updated the interior nicely and having TV screens up at the bar but can be moved up out of the way when they have a live band.It was nice to come back to something familiar and the food was great with large portions at a great price.I'll be there again t... What User doesn't like about Pony Corral - Downtown:
Order chicken fingers which came with no sauce. Asked for honey dill and the waitress promptly got me a small thimble amount. To my surprise I was charge $1 for and amount that must have took more time to squeeze such a small amount out with out spilling than it's worth.Sauce should not be charged for. It's not guacamole.Overpriced, undervalued, subpar taste. View all feedback.
Before heading to the Jets game with my mother, we stopped for a quick dinner at Pony. The service was excellent as always. The owner, Peter G, even came to congratulate my mother on her birthday. Instead of taking the bus to the game, Peter went above and beyond by driving us there and even brought a birthday cake with candles. Thank you to Peter and the Pony team for making my mother's birthday even more special.
The restaurant is pleasant and cleanly maintained. However, I was surprised by the high prices of the beers, even during Happy Hour. The house beer was over $7.00 plus tax. If you're looking to enjoy a few drinks without breaking the bank, Pony Coral may not be the best option for you.
My friend recommended trying this restaurant for their all-you-can-eat ribs or riblets. I had previously enjoyed a good sandwich and service here, but this time was disappointing. We sat in the dark lounge from 6:22 to 8:15, waiting for our food which finally arrived at 7 p.m. I ordered the all-you-can-eat ribs, but it took a long time for the server to check on us and bring more. I also asked for gravy, which cost an additional $2.00. The service was slow and the food took a while to come out. Unfortunately, we won't be returning for dinner. The restaurant was not busy, but the service was lacking. Apologies, but we were not satisfied with our experience.
