Was Anonym at Maque a mag?
We ate at this restaurant on May 30th 2017. The food was amazing, the service was friendly, helpful and efficient. My husband and I are very critical when dining out. We could not think of anything negative to say about our experience. This is now our favourite place to dine. View all feedback.

We ate here as 3 adults for dinner. We reserved a table 2 days before and there was no issue finding space, although some times were not available. We were seated quickly at a nice table near the back. It was close to the washroom but slightly more spacious than some of the others. The menu is simple and quickly explained by the server. I don't remember if he told us his name but he was really quite good. Brief, but not curt, polite but not excessively so. The other servers who brought the dishes all explained what was in them, although this is listed in the menu. The food is pan-asian, and the dishes certainly had some Asian flavours and style to them. All very good and many excellent. The flavours were generally unique, but there was frequent use of pork, which did cause some dishes to taste similar. The style is tapas, with smallish portions. The pricing is not bad, but to feel full our group of 3 ordered 10 dishes to share, plus 2 desserts. The total before tip, with 2 bottles of sparkling water and 1 bottle of wine was ~ $280 CAD. So at over $100 CAD per person, it's definitely not a cheap meal. Compared to many meals I've had in Winnipeg, this was very pleasant, and I would certainly eat here again.Just for interest sake, the sister restaurant to Maque, Enoteca, is also very good. I found the food at Enoteca to be slightly more varied, which maybe made it a touch better. But Enoteca was loud, the service was not as good and the ambiance at Maque was more charming, simple and non-distracting. I enjoyed both restaurants, but if I had to choose to return to one of them, which I will likely do, I'd choose Maque first.

My husband and I tried this restaurant for dinner on Friday, May 5th, with another couple. There were a number of delicious sounding dishes, so it was hard to select just a few to share. Our waiter recommended the Yam, Pork Belly & Wild Mushroom and suggested that we order 6-8 dishes for 4 people. We thought we'd start with 5 and see how we felt before ordering more. We also selected a bottle of wine - Tempranillo from Spain, a very nice full-bodied red.The dishes came out one by one, rather than all at once. I liked this as it gave us time to digest between dishes and enjoy each one individually.Yams ($15) - This dish was fantastic! Sweet and savory at the same time and a significant portion size. It was so good, we were already discussing ordering another portion if we were still hungry at the end.Brussel sprouts ($16) - This was well prepared, not overcooked, with a tasty truffled sausage.Lobster feature ($20) - Though I enjoy spicy food, I found the sauce overpowered the lobster. I personally like my seafood in a lighter sauce.Duck confit ($20) - Served with egg noodles, the duck was shredded and served with a savory sauce with a kick of chili.Pork Belly ($20) - This was the favourite! The melt-in-your-mouth tender meat came in a sweet sauce with a spicy topping that was just the perfect combination of flavours.I would definitely eat here again and look forward to trying other dishes!

I can't say much, you really just have to try it. Bring someone you want to share with and be ready to use chopsticks. It's a small place, but highly recommended. The food is very flavorful and it's a hidden gem in the city. Just keep in mind that the drink menu is limited, mostly wine, a few types of beer, and Japanese whiskey.

My wife and I came to Maque for a date night. I had heard great things about this restaurant and they were all accurate. The food was exceptional, everything was tasty and felt very fresh. The prices are very reasonable considering the quality of the food you get, and the portion sizes are also generous. We will definitely return in the future.
