Contribute Feedback Was Richard D at Spitfire & Firkin a mag?
We needed a place for ah quiet lunch on our day out. The Irish Stew and the Sheppard's Pie are always good espcially on a cold day. The fish and chips were ok. The service was very good and the wait staff took time to chat. We did appreciate the conversation with her. We have been to this place a number of times. The best of the menue is the perch. What mishawindsor dislikes about Spitfire & Firkin:
Stopped on our way home for dinner. We had an order of fish and chips and an order of chicken fingers. Fish was mostly batter with a handful of chips, and the chicken fingers were small with a salad and a side of coleslaw. The bar was not half full when we entered but still took a fair bit of time to get meals. Server was helpful and place was clean. New management apparently had not made any improvements in the food.... View all feedback.
Nice placeI'd come here againThey have a lot of traditional American optionsBurgers, poutine, that kinda stuffDecent selection of beer too.
Never been super impressed by any of the X and Firkin establishmentsThis is one of the better ones.
So one of our friends is a manager of this location, but I had never been there before (my wife had been there multiple times).
Our last visit was good, but last night was well below par. Service was fine, except we were not asked what size of beer we wanted so the waitress brought 2 large drafts. $13.38!! WOW. I asked for a specific type of beer and the waitress said they may be out of it, but I heard other waitresses offer it to other tables. My guess is that she tried to make her life easier by only ordering one type. I had the fish & chips which were decent but my wife's souvlaki wrap had about 6 small pieces of pork. Pretty skimpy for the price. Our overall experience last night was not good at all. Doubtful if we will return.
This pub now operates independently as the Spitfire Pub, no longer under the Firkin franchise. Our family of 4 visited this past weekend and all of us enjoyed our apps and meals. We ordered the calamari and poutine for apps. Beer on tap was a good selection. Our meals included: chicken tenders off the children's menu for our daughter, shepherd's pie for our 9 yr old son (he absolutely loved it), my husband had one of the specialty burgers which he thought was great, and I had the roast beef dip served with au jus. All great! Staff friendly, prompt and attentive. We will visit again.
