I was hesitant at first when we arrived, but the chicken kebab was extremely well-marinated and still hot when we got home. I had to leave a positive review. It was actually the best marinated kebab I've had in a long time. The fries were thick-cut and delicious, they could stand on their own. Thank you very much. View all feedback.
What TravelmanBasingstoke doesn't like about Mermaids Fish Chips:
Where do I start? The cod was over cooked and the batter at the ends was almost solid, not crunchy at all. The chips tasted (and looked) as if they had already been cooked previously and had been reheated. The Pea Fritter and Sausage in batter were tasteless. Could not taste the salt vinegar either. They also do pizza's which I hope are a lot tastier. Truly dreadful. View all feedback.
I was very disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. I have ordered from here twice now. The first time, I found it to be quite expensive, but I thought maybe it was because I was ordering for a large group. Today, I decided to give it a second chance. We ordered 2 medium cod and chips, but were charged for large portions. We also ordered a battered sausage and chips. Despite being told there would be a six minute wait, we were served with fish and chips that had clearly been sitting out for a while. The quality of the chips was inconsistent - some were delicious, while others tasted old and stale. Although this restaurant is local to me, I would prefer to drive past it and go to a much cheaper and tastier option in St Cross. The size of the fish was more in line with what I would expect for a small portion, and while the chips were plentiful, most of them ended up being thrown away because they weren't enjoyable. I do not plan on returning to this restaurant again, which is a shame.

The customer service at this restaurant is excellent. I have ordered from here several times and have never been disappointed. The food tastes delicious and the salad is as fresh as if you made it at home. The staff is amazing. They don't seem to let negative reviews affect them. I highly recommend trying it for yourself. 5 stars.
There is a large group of people working at this restaurant. I have never had any issues with the younger staff members as they are always friendly. The food is amazing and I highly recommend this place to everyone.
Reheating doner meat in front of me and charging 10 pounds for it is unacceptable. I will not be returning and I strongly advise everyone to steer clear of this place.
