The food and service were exceptional. Seafood chowder was the soup of the day. It was creamy and full of seafood. Our meals came with a very nice salad, relatively large and artistically presented and warm rolls. The marinated pork chops were very tender and tasty and the salmon was delicious. What bryonne vancini doesn't like about The Tributary:
This place is great if you're going out and want to spend more than 2 hours at a restaurant since there was only one waiter in the whole place we waited almost an hour before we got to put in our order and paid way to much for poorly seasoned cold steak and veggies. Their roles, however, are the highlight of the evening. View all feedback.
My boyfriend and I come here to eat and order take-out frequently because of the quality. The food is always delicious with homemade sauces and pleasant, but not overdone, seasoning. The food takes a bit of time since it 's all made fresh. Some people may complain about this fact, but it 's a sign that the food is cooked and not frozen. Also, some people complained in other comments about the outdated decor and building. The structure is a historic part of the pre-flood days of winsted. I always love looking at the old pictures up on the walls! The staff are always very generous as well. They go above and beyond to give us great service. They always remember us, giving generous amounts of sides and an extra dessert here and there.People need to realize that privately owned businesses may not have the quick turn-over and staff volume. We prefer to support local!
We went here for our Anniversary. The person who waited on us was so kind. Our food was perfectly cooked and delicious and those desserts rocked. Love this
Place is fabulous!!! I don't want to say their menu is small, it's more of an intimate menu. They do have nightly specials in addition to their regular menu. All entrées come with bread and a salad (salad bar is no more, thanks to covid . They cook everything top notch, just as you request. We did 2 family birthday dinners here. Their bacon wrapped filet is to die for, my go to. Only place I've ever had one and the bacon comes out perfectly cooked. Our table also got appetizers which consisted of mozzarella sticks (so yummy and that cheese pull ? , wings, which are absolutely massive, and boneless buffalo wings, which have that spicy kick you're looking for. Other entrées were their prime rib, cooked both rare and medium rare and were both spot on and devoured lol. The french onion soup is a must... packed with amazing flavor and the perfect portion size. We also had their vegetable lasaga, which was huge and packed with filling. You can tell everything they make is a labor of love and the prices are more than fair for the portions they provide. If you're ever in Winsted, check them out... you will NOT be disappointed or leave hungry.

We had a wonderful experience here. Portions and add-ons (fresh rolls, side salads were generous, prices for dinner and drinks were very reasonable, the food was delicious and nicely presented, and the service was excellent. A happy surprise, as we are not from the area and didn't know what to expect when we stopped in. (Note: our main dishes were from the menu, but slightly different than what's listed below.
