Despite the kitchen being closed that night, we promised to return and three nights later we did for dinner. We were amazed by the quality, variety, and freshness of the food. All four of us agreed that it was some of the best pub food we've had in the UK. I had the Iberico Pork steak which tasted surprisingly like beef, with delicious charring and fresh sides. I recently dined at this restaurant with a group of friends from U3A for lunch. We all enjoyed our meals and were happy with the service and reasonable prices. However, I was surprised when my pie and vegetables arrived without gravy. The staff did manage to find some leftover gravy from Sunday lunch, which was appreciated. Good rematch on the steak night. In our second visit, we ate a fine steak, so that's why the late revision from August.
We went twice during our stay locally and were impressed. Burgers on Monday are all homemade and were scrumptious and on Wednesday we had ‘Pie and a Pint’ all of which were delicious and excellent . Our welcome at the pub was great and its dog friendly
Have not visited the Rattlebone since a truly memorable Staff Christmas party 30 years earlier with the Team from the petty France Hotel , anyway back to the present we arrived on a crisp autumn day where the Rattlebone was nice and busy and continued to fill up all lunch time , very friendly and not over fussy staff making you feel very welcome The meal itself was very enjoyable with starter’s consisting of chorizo and cheese balls with a salsa falafels with a dip as well as a couple of soups served with the super Hobbs house bread Main course was all about the Roast the Beef and Chicken were both superb , beautifully cooked with a great selection of Vegetables and prober gravy just delicious Biscoff Cheescake was had by all for dessert and just one word “ wow “ So overall 10/10 for this Sunday lunch and certainly won’t be waiting anther 30 years for my next return to the Rattlebone

However, I was surprised when my pie and vegetables arrived without gravy. The staff did manage to find some leftover gravy from Sunday lunch, which was appreciated. The real shock came when I received the bill. Although I usually don't order alcoholic beverages, I decided to treat myself to a lemonade and lime, which cost £6.10. I was taken aback by the high price and will likely stick to water in the future, as a glass of wine may have been cheaper. I would have expected such a high price if my drink had contained Bacardi.

All four of us agreed that it was some of the best pub food we've had in the UK. I had the Iberico Pork steak which tasted surprisingly like beef, with delicious charring and fresh sides. My wife had the risotto, my sister ordered the cold pork salad, and my brother-in-law chose the pie from the specials menu, all of which were excellent. It was a delightful experience to enjoy such amazing food in the charming village of Sherston.
