What James W doesn't like about Park At Lucknam Park:
I find it hard to review this, but I must. I booked afternoon tea for my wife's 50th birthday. The food was excellent, but the service was lacking. Upon arrival, we were left to wander around with no one at reception. After finally asking for directions, we were told to wait and someone would assist us. The experience felt a bit like Fawlty Towers - I was expecting better service. View all feedback.
We were looking to take our son and his fiancé somewhere special to celebrate their recent engagement and I looked at several well known Cotswold destinations for a decadent afternoon tea experience. Settled on Lucknam Park for its stunning approach, beautiful gardens and fond memories of past visits. I can’t say that anything went ‘wrong’ as such but it was all just underwhelming I’m sad to say. We sat in the drawing room and struggled for room on our table for four…all just a bit cramped, and whilst the food was very tasty, we had to ask for more sandwiches, that wasn’t a problem, but had to pay for additional two scones… £10) they’re very small cakes, and we’re not exceptionally greedy people but just felt it was all a bit disappointing . On a positive note the grounds are stunning and the location perfect. I’d like to say that I would return, but if I’m completely honest I’d probably look to go elsewhere especially if it was a special occasion.

It has been 20 years since our last visit to Lucknam Park, so we are not regulars at this Michelin Starred restaurant. However, we were not disappointed. The restaurant has the ambiance of a country house, with plenty of comfortable seating options to choose from while deciding what to eat and drink. We enjoyed nibbling on the canapés while perusing the menu, which offered a choice of 8 courses, either vegetarian or "normal." We opted for the normal menu and were delighted with the exquisite dishes, each one a new culinary experience. The portions were thankfully small, allowing us to enjoy every course without feeling overwhelmed. The final cheese offering was a perfect end to the meal. At £140 per person plus 12.5% service charge, it was a pricey dining experience, but well worth it for foodies or those looking to celebrate a special occasion. Overall, Lucknam Park exceeded our expectations. -David Trish, Bath
We have eaten here before and had such a wonderful time that we booked again. The food was exquisite on both our visits and presentation was impeccable. The service was neither of these things on our second visit. We received our fist course at 8pm. At 10:55pm we still did not have our dessert! No apologise just excuses. Other tables sat down ay 9pm and left before us. We waited 30 minutes for the cheese course and another 30 minutes between pre dessert and dessert. Sadly we were not the only ones to get bad service one couple said they just wanted to pay and leave before either dessert as the wait was so long. I am not sure why this was the case. Some tables seemed to get the usual level of service, whilst others did not. It wasn't that we were slow but rather felt like we were forgotten or got treated to a different level of service to other diners. We love the food here so we are struggling on whether we would return..... For us it is the whole package not just the food!
