Having grown up in Africa and the Caribbean, they are particularly discerning when it comes to restaurants serving dishes from their home countries. I am uniquely skilled in being able to make these comparisons. View all feedback.
Wow! I love Yelp. It helps me to find the best local restaurants. Yolanda is amazing! Great service with a big smile. There is love in this food. Wow! Can't wait to bring friends back.
Growing up African and Caribbean you get critical of restaurants that serve your home cuisine. As a matter of fact, i have the talent of comparing it each family member's style. I came here during the off season and had spent the day at the beach. Beach is simultaneous with Caribbean cooking for me. The place is located in shopping center and is towards the back. I almost missed (being dependent on GPS. The owner/ hostess greets you as walk through the door. Her smile is a sense of warmth. Menu- The menu is filled with traditional Jamaican household foods. I opted to have the brown stew chicken. I paired it with cabbage and rice and peas. I had the 1/2 portion. It came with two pieces of chicken a drum stick and breast. The meal felt like home. I will surely be back here sooner.
The lady/owner(? at the restaurant is a GREAT host. My friend and I went there for the first time, and she welcomed us in, checked on us and made us feel like a family. You can feel the warmth and sincerity exuding from this nice lady. It's just nice to relax and dine in a place like this. Interestingly the ox tails dish rice reminded me of a similar taste from my hometown in China. One thing bad about it (maybe you can say the same for many restaurant food is that it's too salty and too rich in favor. The thick sauce to some extend took over the taste of main ingredient. Desserts are house made and taste really good!
Arrived into Wilmington, did a search and found this restaurant. Boy am I glad I did! It is an unassuming place tucked into the back corner of a strip mall. Entry into Jamaicas Comfort Zone you find a clean, quaint establishment dressed with the ever present Bob Marley picture, as well as a few other appointments from the island. The menu includes many foods from the island without being overwhelming. I opted for the 1/2 portion of the Jerk Chicken. It comes with two sides, from which I selected the plantains and rice with chick peas. I also added a desert of Pineapple bread pudding. The half portion is perfect for lunch or a light dinner. Each element of the meal was filled with a wide range of flavors, nearly perfectly made. the bread pudding did not really have the texture of its namesake. Neither was it overly sweet, which means it complemented the meal very well. The owner of the establishment was very agreeable and was inquisitive as to where I learned about the bread pudding, since it was not on the menu. Of course, I said here. All in all a wonderful experience for a very reasonable price. If you live in or are visiting Wilmington, I highly recommend your visiting the Jamaicas Comfort Zone!
The oxtail and callaloo tasted authentic. They use quality ingredients to create well seasoned food. The restaurant has a back in Jamaica theme that is well done. The restaurant was clean and the staff was friendly.
