J Michael's Philly Deli Hanover Ctr

All American Food.... J. Michael 's Philly Deli is a small chain of restaurants in the area of Wilmington, NC. I was at all three locations, so I won't write a review of a particular restaurant, but masse on all of them. You can find J. Michael 's Philly Deli in three locations (Hanover Center, Monkey Junction and Porter 's Neck I usually try to check restaurants without looking at one of the other comments first. To prepare for this review, I decided to break my standing rule and read the other reviewers first because I know how persnickety people can be about cheese steaks. Has anyone ever heard of a healthy Philly cheese steak??? I didn't think so! Why so many complain that the cheese steaks are not healthy here? It seems to me that this is only bad karma. Show me a healthy cheese steak everywhere and I can be willing to sell you some properties I have kept on the moon (at Taurus-Littrow Valley). J. Michael's Philly Deli reminds me of my favorite college hangout in Augusta, Georgia. It was called the village of Deli (and still is and was the type of place, each pupil and lunch break worker would be common for tasty expenses. It was just good... and that's all that's really important (especially in my college years. It's one of the last big curtains of the corporate monsters (i.e. Denny 's, IHOP, etc... Of course, the cheese steak is what everyone thinks when it comes to J. Michael 's... but the menu also consists of hogies, grinders, burgers, sandwiches, salads and a variety of appetizers. Their desserts are quite standard tariff... but the cheese cake is pretty good. There are only some types of restaurants that do not like; that's one of them. Café tables, wooden chairs, artificial wood cladding and plastic tubs are rich. It would almost be appropriate to call J. Michael 's a diner. But I only looked at the definition of diners and discovered that unless they have a long meter with stools one side... and stands on the other... it's NOT a diner. Who knew it?! No, J Michael doesn't have the best cheese steak I've ever had, but it's pretty good. I heard someone say that J. Michael 's has no authentic cheese steak because they use a cheese sauce instead of real cheese. Wrong! I was in Philadelphia several times and I can assure you they all use a cheese sauce instead of slices of genuine, melted cheese. To be honest, I was shocked. In fact, I was stupid enough to ask where I could find a great Philly cheese steak while I was in downtown Philadelphia. After the lady dressed me, she said, If you're in Philly, it's just a cheese steak. The cheese steaks here are good. My wife is addicted to her homemade potato chips (they call her frips with one side of Ranch Dressing for diving. I am part of their french fried mushrooms and onion rings as sides. In the past I had both the hot pastrami and their new sandwiches and was always satisfied. In response to health comments, J. Michael 's introduced a healthy selection menu. It is, however, as if it were in a chocolate shop and eat a celery stick. What are you doing? Why are you tortured? EAT a cheese steak and enjoy life... it's short!

Hold on to the cheese steaks. Always big fat food. Just don't get the meatball bottom, sheet metal!

Chicken Philly. Always in the place! Chicken Philly, no cheese, light onions! I am absolutely addicted after her ranch dressing and put it on EVERYTHING (pictures included)! Loves fried mushrooms, frits, frits, mozzarella sticks, onion rings and chickens. A true Wilmington institution!

Love this place!! Never had a bad time! Philly with Mayo, black olives!! Yummy
