Another wonderful afternoon spent at my favourite Restaurant celebrating my friend Jayne's 60th Birthday! Just when you think the food can't get any better Enzo and Andy go the next step! Food 11 out of 10. The customer service of the staff is exceptional and they are obviously happy to be there judging by the smile on their face! I think I have gained an extra kilo just on the bread. If you want to spend your entire Sunday afternoon in a noisy venue that has an air of neglect about it eating unimaginative and over-priced food then this place is for you!
I was really looking forward to lunch at Our Place after friends had enjoyed their meals their. My friend booked and spoke to Andy, who assured her that my pescatarian needs would be catered for. Unfortunately they were not. When the bread arrived it was accompanied by a liver pate. But nobody told us that. And then came the turkey. My friend asked the waitress what alternative food would be provided for me. The waitress said they would make a salad. What she neglected to say is that my diet was not catered for because they didn 't write it down. Nobody asked me what foods I ate or apologised. In fact nobody spoke to me. The waitress told my friend that I was special and then asked my partner why she was laughing. At a neighbouring table a pescitarian was eating salmon. But when I asked the staff I was told there was no fish available. Then Andy wheeled out the hogget, a whole sheep which was the centrepiece of the meal. At this point I was presented with the vegetarian option, more potato which was the dish I had just finished. Four broad beans, blanched. And a whole avocado! I was speechless. Those who are meant got a dish which took 24 hours to cook. And I got leftovers. And no apology. The wait staff were mostly inexperienced and a bit on edge. And the experienced waitress was passive aggressive and made me feel like an intruder. For $80 a head plus wine, I expect a lot better. In fact if I dined at my local pizza bar I would be treated better. Our Place has many positive reviews. However this is not the place to go if you have particular food requirements. Or prefer staff to be welcoming and kind. Apart from that the food was so heavy. First and second courses were pizza. Then bread, fried potato, calamari. Then gnocchi and risotto. Crikey I could hardly move. And service was so slow that lunch took 5 hours. I like a long lunch but I don 't like waiting an hour between courses. I am so disappointed with this place. I won 't be back.
What an amazing restaurant! The food is excellent and the lunch experience lasts about 4 hours, with a variety of small courses that change weekly based on fresh ingredients. Yesterday, the main course was roasted water buffalo with potatoes, carrots, broccoli, and homemade horseradish. Before the main dish, we enjoyed polenta, pizza, homemade bread with pate, vegetable salad, crumbed squid, vitello tonnato, gnocchi with tomato sauce, and a delicious risotto. The dessert, a homemade cannoli, was fantastic. The service was friendly, helpful, and efficient. Andy Clappis, the host and chef of Our Place, is truly exceptional and deserves all the praise for the restaurant's success.
We spent a long Sunday lunch here with family, a small group of 6. Even though the lunch goes for 4+ hours it does not feel like it at all. Portions were perfect size and the food all cooked perfectly. We did not go hungry and had to learn to pace ourselves ready for the next course! Hard to not fill up on the freshly baked bread as it is just divine. Would recommend for a lovely Sunday lunch for any small group. Not to mention it is great value for what you get. Need to book ahead though, they are very busy! Thanks Andy staff for a lovely day.
