Four of us ate there Monday last week for the first time. We all had flake and chips, three battered and one grilled @ $9.90 each. The couple we were with (on holiday from England) said it was the best fish and chips they had ever had! It really was lovely light batter and beats all the other fish and chip places I have tried. Would definitely make a special trip from south eastern suburbs to go back there. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Williamstown Mussels:
We've been here a couple of times and sat down by the water near the pier. Each time we've had mixed bags of items and the quality has slightly varied. The staff are friendly and location is excellent, but a few times it has been quite oily, fish and chips is naturally oily but you don't want it down your arms. Still worth buying here but would have been a four but for consistency View all feedback.
Took over 20 minutes to serve a minimum chips, not worth it. Chips were average, and overpriced, shouldn’t be taking that long busy or not
I’ve ordered Barramundi and potato cakes once a week for the past 3 weeks and each time it has been fresh and delicious. Service was also fast and friendly.
Ordered simple fish and chips. Chips were generous and nicely cooked. Fish was crisply battered and the fillet was acceptable. Friendly personal service. Great location
My wife and I came here regularly before COVID and we both thought of this place as one of the best fish and chip shops in Melbourne. This place seems to have changed hands as it seems to have gone down hill badly. The price for a piece of flake at $9 ea . seems higher than most, our local in Eltham charged $7 this would not be so bad but the fish was 1/3 the size, the batter was thin and translucent, the fish did not have the texture or taste of flake and it was very oily. Even the chips were less than average with many of them still with bits of peel still attached and again very oily. We will not risk it again and will give another establishment a go next time. What is the saying, fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.
We had a celebratory lunch with a group friends at Williamstown Mussels. We had a seafood platter; the serve of chips was so large we couldn't finish it all. We also had mussels, fish, scallops, calamari and prawns. The meal was very well prepared and presented. We enjoyed it very much.
