What User doesn't like about Siam Orchid Restaurant:
if they do nothing else in life, they avoid this restaurant. it was good before, 10 years ago with various owners. now, if I could evaluate less than 1, I would. we went with the family and elders, ordered a few entree and...the main tom ka suppe came with long black hair, returned it and came back with hair in different bowls. the mains were dirty and the service was not available. when I complained about the suppe,... When I walk into a restaurant and see that it is packed to the hilt and people without reservations are being turned away yet choose to wait for a vacant table, I know that the food is going to be good.Siam Orchid has apparently been in the same location for many, many years and is always very busy according to our local friend who took my wife and I there. We ordered a good selection from the extensive menu and shared everything. I couldn't fault any dish. The flavors were fantastic and well balanced.Its busy and noisy so don't expect a nice quiet dinner. This is a cheap and cheerful done very well and it is no wonder our friend eats there regularly. Great food at a reasonable price with prompt service.
The food is average at best, but my main issue is that I purchased a voucher from them for $200 last year and only used part of this, they extended the date for me but when I returned from overseas I realized that the expiry date had past, I called to enquire about extending or refund, but was told in no uncertain terms, that it was my fault that it had expired and there was no way this could be considered. As I started off by saying that the food is "average" you may wonder why I would want to return there, I actually had no intention to do that but was hopeful of a compromise and a possible partial refund of my money outstanding, however this was not even considered by quite a rude manager.My advice is, do not purchase a voucher from them as it is just a license for them to keep the money.Any reputable company that issues vouchers don't usually have expiry dates so from now on I will use this as a guide line.

Three of us had a delicious meal the food was fresh and very tasty, good sized servings beautifully presented. The service was very good and very polite. This will be our Thai resturant when we visit Melbourne
