Description

**Tavern 109: A Mixed Bag of Experiences**

Nestled in a charming setting, Tavern 109 offers an intriguing menu replete with unique dishes like pear pizza and ginger carrot bisque, complemented by craft cocktails that delight. While many patrons praise the food and service, recent visits reveal inconsistencies. Slow service and overlooked orders mar the dining experience, leaving some guests frustrated, particularly when tech issues delayed billing. Despite these hiccups, the ambiance remains inviting, making it a popular choice for casual meals and special occasions alike. Overall, while Tavern 109 has culinary gems, the service needs to catch up to the quality of the food.

I visited this restaurant for the first time and was impressed by how clean and well-organized it is! The staff was friendly, and the food was fantastic. For my lunch, I found the overall experience to be excellent. The price was around $20–30 per person. I would rate the food, service, and atmosphere all as a 5 out of 5. I highly recommend trying the Pear Pizza!

I was told there would be excellent vegetarian options, but the choices were somewhat limited: a salad, a sandwich, burgers with a $3 upgrade for an Impossible patty, peach pizza, and risotto. While these options are similar to what you find on pub menus elsewhere, I found them lacking, especially given the higher prices. It would have been nice to see a few unique dishes featured. For the meat and fish options, I anticipated a commitment to welfare or sustainable sourcing, but I didn’t notice any such statements, although I may have overlooked them. Overall, the flavors were good, but there was a noticeable lack of innovation. On a positive note, the cocktail selection was intriguing! As for the vegetarian offerings, they could benefit from a more creative touch in the kitchen, as dedicated vegetarian dishes often make a stronger impression.

I absolutely love the menu! There are seasonal dishes like butternut squash soup for the fall. The food is amazing, and the service was excellent. Food: 5/5, Service: 5/5, Atmosphere: 5/5.

Tonight was our first time visiting Tavern 109 and the food and service were great. Unfortunately, however, when we finished eating and asked for the bill, we were told the computers were down. We totally understood (and still do— tech difficulties happen! however after 25 or so minutes of waiting, our 1.5 year old daughter started to get fussy as it was getting close to bedtime, and she’d been strapped in for well over an hour. My husband took her out to the car so she wouldn’t irritate other customers, and I continued to wait for almost another 25 minutes by myself while my daughter melted down in the car. At this point, our waitress asked if she could manually write our bill and take my card information and apologized for the wait. So to reiterate— the food was great and our waitress was great, but I was pretty frustrated to see that after such an ordeal, we were offered zero discount (even still being charged an extra $2 for cheese, no less for the inconvenience. It would have gone a long way with us, as we still had to drive an hour home and spent a good amount of money on this dinner. Feels like giving some nod to our long, long wait would have been the classy thing to do, but no such luck.

Very good food! The restaurant seemed light staffed. So we waited quite a while to get our food ordered, and the server mentioned the kitchen was backed up. I'm sure it isn't usually like that. We were there right as they opened. It's a tad pricey. But I get it. Everybody has to make a profit. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4
