Excellent! Went back in March and it was great! Staff was nice and courteous. Food portions were PLENTY and very filling. Banana Pudding and Carrot Cake are DIVINE. The BBQ Ribs are tender and cooked to perfection! I'd buy a whole slab next time I go back. Definitely will be returning...and I live 4 hours away in North Carolina and they are located in VIRGINIA View all feedback.
11/22/2021: Remember extra sauce! We chose a To Go order of Doc's family special with pork. We also ordered an additional quart of chicken bbq. Pierce's has been an are staple for 40+ years. Our last visit was over 20 years ago. The unsweetened ice tea, pulled pork, and meaty beans were excellent. The slaw was minced and typically good. We almost never add salt or sugar to prepared foods, but 2 of 4 felt the potato salad needed a pinch of additional salt. Personally, I (non smoker) enjoyed it as served . A sign of the times: The rolls were smaller than I remember, but in their defense they were today's typical 2/3 size white hamburger rolls found too frequently in the grocery stores. So, you still believe there is no inflation? Finding a circa 1970 full sized whole wheat hamburger roll is like hunting for a unicorn. So, we bake our own. The chicken was packed drier than the pork. I forgot, but be sure to get plenty of extra sauce!! Total bill was north of $80 to feed two retired normal weight straight couples. There was enough left over for four snack size sandwiches the next day. The sides were just enough for the two men to not go hungry. Both would have eaten more of those wonderful beans had they been available. The ladies were able to sleep soundly that night...
1/2 chicken with Mac and cheese and cornbread is my standing order- excellent! My husband also loves the pulled pork sandwich. Fast service, always hot and tasty. I always choose this for my quick take-out when I am passing through the area
Not what we were expecting but great experience! Our large group was thinking we were going to a dining restaurant (I guess we just thought it would be like what we have close to home). To our surprise just inside the door is line dividers, a container with menus, and three cashiers stating that they can help whoever is next. We ordered and figured we would have to take it outside to some picnic tables in order to accommodate our group. However, things move so quickly that before our food was ready (they holler out your on your ticket) some tables together had opened up. The burger was a real beef burger. The Mac n cheese had spiral noodles but tasted like my homemade. Some said the chicken tenders were great. Most got the (I think JC special) it was a barbecue sandwich that had coleslaw on it which some did get on the side. They have a self-serve drink station for their souvenir plastic cups. We were all very pleased with how dinner turned out that evening!

I've been coming to this restaurant since I was a kid. My dad brought me here when I was about 6 years old now I'm 62 and it's still taste as great as it did then. It is not a Carolina style barbecue which I am not a fan of. Of the 50 plus years I've been coming here and I come very often at least once a month or once every 2 months I've only gotten fat in my sandwich twice in my life.
