After visiting the HWK memorial, (well worth the visit, museum is excellent as is the walk through the old trenches) which in itself is both a tribute to the soldiers and the futility of war, we happened upon the restaurant Ferme Auberge. The restaurant is housed on the edge of of a hill and overlooks the beautiful forests the area is well known for. The inside tables were packed and being a wonderful autumn day we sat outside on the verandah. Here began one of the most delightful meals we had on our month long trip. All I can say is check it out. You will not regret the decision. Most ingredients are from this farm and put together to create a timeless memory.
Super value for price! All typical and local products, farm- and homemade delicious plates! Highly recommended! Also super nice! Wonderful view
This stop for lunch on the Route des Cretes was the one of the most authentic meals we enjoyed on our trip. We arrived towards the end of lunch as most people were leaving. Communication was difficult since we spoke no German but they were accommodating. We ordered collet fume and fleischschnackas and salads. Good portions and good eating. Thanks to the Familie Luttringer. With a beer and a glass of wine, the total came to 26.10 euros, an excellent value. Highly recommended .Your food cannot get much fresher. I do not think there are many better options on the Route. Also very good for the budget traveler.
