Big Tex BBQ - Willcox
Big Tex BBQ
Description
This barbecue restaurant offers a hearty selection of classic dishes, including brisket, pulled pork, and generous portions of stuffed baked potatoes. While the food receives mixed reviews—ranging from delightful brisket to undercooked catfish—some diners lamented the service, describing it as lukewarm and at times, inattentive. The ambiance boasts a nostalgic charm, enhanced by a recent remodel and festive decor. Many patrons enjoyed the burgers and praised the cleanliness of the space, though a few expressed disappointment with the consistency of their meals. Overall, this spot may appeal to those seeking a casual barbecue experience, albeit with some service concerns.

Excellent barbecue and service! We had the beef brisket, mac cheese and sweet potato fries. The salad bar was fresh and had good options. Everyone at our table enjoyed their meals. Good variety of food on the menu. Saw a pizza go by and it looked yummy!
We had lunch at the Big Tex BBQ. We opted for a Bacon Cheeseburger with green chili. We split this entreé so we could each have a salad. The salad bar has fresh ingredients with a variety to satisfy any palette. Our server was very pleasant, friendly and welcoming to us. Our entreé was brought to us with an extra plate and a steak knife to halve it, as we stated to the server when we ordered. A great atmosphere in the red train car rather than the main restaurant seating. Our second visit, most likely, not our last!!
What a fun place to stop! The food was good, but the Brisket was pretty average and a little on the dry side. Slicing it so thin I think made it dryer. The best part was the waitress who gave us very specific directions on how to find the Sandhill Cranes! The crazy thing was they were out in a cornfield around 10 mils out of town and her directions were spot on! We never would have found them without her guidance! Much appreciated!
