One of the best places to grab a drink in Wigan! They offer a fantastic variety of lagers, gins, cocktails, and pretty much anything else you could want. The food is excellent, and the portion sizes are incredibly generous! View all feedback.
What Jed RY doesn't like about Forbes On The Lane:
The food is good to alright...no steak and the menu isn't great ....the large front room table where we were, the seats are very uncomfortable the waitress service was prompt but quite quiet as the food was being served we couldn't hear them much ...which could partially be our fault being a large party and a tad loud .. Just being honest not meaning to offend View all feedback.
That said, the food was decent—nothing to write home about, but acceptable. The tapas portions were quite generous, which we didn’t anticipate. However, we also ordered a chicken jalfrezi that was rather unappetizing; the chicken was very dry and seemed like it had been cooked earlier and merely reheated. While the prices for the food were reasonable, we were taken aback by the drink prices. A double gin and tonic cost 8, which included 6 for the gin and 2 for a tiny bottle of tonic, while a pint of Guinness was nearly 5. On a Friday evening, the restaurant was nearly empty, just us and a table of five young women, which made for a lacking atmosphere. However, there were people enjoying drinks on the terrace outside. Overall, we found the restaurant to be somewhat confusing and disorganized. It doesn't focus on a concise, quality menu featuring locally sourced ingredients prepared from scratch. If you’re looking for a genuine restaurant experience, I wouldn’t recommend this place.
It's a great pub restaurant! I haven't eaten there yet, but the aromas are absolutely delicious.
We were surprised by how quiet it was during our visit on a Saturday evening. The food was delicious and made with high-quality ingredients, but there were some minor issues with attention to detail. None of our dishes came with a salad garnish, and although I requested to have no peas with my main dish, there was a noticeable empty space on the plate where they would have been. This is just a small criticism and certainly won't stop us from coming back. Overall, it was excellent value for money and the staff were very friendly.
