I wavered between giving an “average” and a “very good” for this review. I would have given it a “good” if that had been an option. In the end, there were just too many negative aspects which kept me from giving this restaurant a “very...good“ this time. Let’s start with the good parts: there is good variety of delicious vegetarian fare. So, the most important aspect, i.e. the food was actually very good. Another positive thing was that we were able to make a reservation for Valentine’s Day dinner on a Friday evening just two days beforehand. (All of the places I really wanted to go to were already booked Now I have a list of tiny picky negative things that made it not such the perfect venue for a romantic Valentine’s Day dinner. The restaurant itself didn’t seem to realize that it was Valentine’s Day. Even though Valentine’s Day is not as big of an event in Germany as it is in anglophone countries, it is still a very popular night for couples to go out to eat. This meant there were no specials, no flowers for table decorations, not even a small nod towards Valentine’s Day. But that was not the decisive factor. The worst aspect was that our waiter was not very attentive. Because we were sitting at an inside table, the waiter never came by to check on things. So, for example, when he forgot to bring the bread with the hors d’oeuvres, we finished half the hummus before he finally brought some. At the end of the meal we wanted to see the dessert menu but our waiter never brought it. He did remember to bring us the two mochas we ordered and we decided to give up on dessert. Then it took him at least minutes to bring us the check. So overall, the food was very good and there are excellent options for vegetarians. The service however was not great.
Palmyra is one of several diverse dining options on Taunusstraße in central Wiesbaden but one offering a different dining experience. We were greeted by the staff and rapidly shown to a table. The restaurant was busy but took us in despite not having a reservation....The decor is light and airy with a Middle Eastern theme. The restaurant has a wide variety of options and we opted to share one of the group menus which included a number of sauces for falafel and bread along with a main course. Service was good especially considering the restaurant was busy. Our meal was excellent and a welcome change. Definitely recommended!
I love going to this restaurant. The staff is so very attentive and polite. The food always meets my expectations.
My husband and I had a night out without kids and decided to go to a restaurant our son wouldn't like for sure so I searched for something different in our area and came upon this Syrian/Lebanese restaurant. We arrived around on a Saturday...evening and got lucky to get the last available table. My recommendation would be to make reservations. We ordered one of several menus for two persons. We ordered number which came with different humus/dips with fresh pita bread and some meat dumplings, followed by a main course consisting of basmati rice and three different kinds of meats. We had the Lebanese white wine which was also very good. The even have an Arabic room where you can eat on the floor sitting on pillows with low tables. However you need to people in order to make reservations for it. We will be back with friends to try it out for sure.
