They were there for lunch. So I realized that the restaurant was Polish, or the owner of the polygamy and a lot of Poles were here, and the menu was also easier for me because it looked like a Russian. Disein is simple, without searching, a little bit of a ****. They ordered a lot of spectacles, lots of spices. A little, cheese and mushroom pie cost less than 10 euros, a big choice will find something to order and ce... View all feedback.
As someone who has Polish friends, and therefore someone who has had ample opportunity to eat and get to know the Polish cuisine, I was glad to have discovered this restaurant, considering there are hardly any Polish restaurants in Vienna. The restaurant is located in the 15th district (metro station 'Johnstrasse' on the U3 line). As soon as you enter the restaurant, you feel as if you have entered a rustic old cabin/cottage in the woods or in the hills, which creates a very cosy atmosphere inside, especially since they also have a fire place inside. We decided to sample a couple of different starters and main courses. For the starters we had the zurek and the Barszcz soup. Since we were having two soups, we asked that the barszcz soup to be served in a much smaller quantity (it was served in mugs for us). The zurek was delicious, although slightly more on the thin side (the ones I have had in the past were slightly thicker in consistency), but it had a generous portion of potatoes, eggs and Polish sausage inside. They didn't bring the bread which would normally accompany the soup, so when we asked whether we could have some bread, we were given what was apparent as stale sliced bread (it was dry and had obviously seen better days). The barszcz was also very good. For the mains we had a trio of pierogies with different fillings with sauteed bacon on top, and a cabbage roulade with a meat stuffing (also known as golabki). These were also very delicious and the portions were quite generous. The pierogies were excellent - the dough had a little bite to it (like perfectly cooked al dente pasta), and weren't soggy at all.For dessert we had a Polish cheesecake which was also quite good, and we sampled a Polish beer. For those who don't like drinking beer, this was surprisingly a very light one, which I enjoyed since it wasn't that strong (Dla Mnie Tyskie). At the end of the evening, we were given complimentary shots of apple liquer which was one of the best liquers that I have ever tried.Overall it was a nice evening, and I highly recommend this place for those who like Polish food, as you won't be dissappointed since they serve traditional authentic food made with Polish ingredients.
In how there is, as much I know, only a handful of Polish restaurants. one of them, the bacówka, we have tested and found recommended."Bacówka" means "Schäferhütte" and so the facility reminds of a hut in the high Tatra - much bright wood, the benches and tables are made from simple, coarsely machined wooden boards and therefore rather uncomfortable. also the decoration is very rustic - cucumber bells, snowshoes, tree trunks as support pillars, booking branches as demarcation, old pistols and rifles etc. the beautiful Polish cywiec beer tastes. as dessert, the apfelstrudel and the cheese cake are recommended. A special praise is due to the warm and competent service.
