We had heard that... read more Basic restaurant slightly off the beaten track in Vienna old city, so quieter, a little less expensive, and the waiters a little less snooty. We had heard that Viennese waiters are snooty, haughty, condescending, and bordering on plain rude; this tradition started in Viennese coffee shops and the Viennese dont have a problem with this. We found this to be true in most places. And then they have the gall, when giving you the bill,to point out that it does not include a service charge or that there is "nothing for me". We had goulash and pork shnitzel. Both were fine. But the main attraction of this restaurant for us was , after a day of rushing around, that it was in a quiet street.

I... read more We were looking for a casual fun place to do some dancing at night and this comes the closest but it is rather an odd mix of people, décor, music, and drinks. It is easy to find. We went for "Fancy Tuesday" with advertised 80s and 90s classic rock music and 50% off drinks from 9-midnight. It is downstairs. The décor is "sort of kind of" rustic mountain alpine but with very cheesy 1970s Love Boat cruise ship sort of disco light balls hanging from the ceiling. The dance floor is small but workable, although part of it is cement which is hard on your feet. Bar tables ring two sides of the dance floor, yet on one side there is a big step down into an eating area. The crowd starts off a bit older, with some folks who clearly know each other and are very good dancers - practiced - which is fun to watch. The music is very strange -- they take classic rock music and "reggae" it up so you sort of don't recognize it and it's very hard to dance to. Around 11, the crowd gets younger with packs of girls and guys separately and it turns very hookup - y.
