I actually visited the Babettes at Am Hof 13, 1010 Wien. I had there freshly prepared tomato and vegetable soup, followed by vegetable ragout with rabbit. Both were excellent. I highly recommed this place as the location is for real foodies. Very small location and...it is actually inside a spice and cookery book shop. You can check their ever changing menu online: [hidden link] View all feedback.
This beautiful shop tea room must be experienced to be appreciated. In a wonderfully traditional Viennese environment, Babette's teas, pastries to sit-down eating, as well as an enormous display of spices and teas to retail, dozens of cookbooks representing dozens of more countries and kitchens, and cooking classes. We stopped for tea and pastries and can't wait to come back. Your website is in German, but English is spoken there.
Great discovery. A shop full of beautiful cookbook and sale of all kinds of spices, a little tea room on the back. Super knowledgeable staff and very helpful. A great place to find small treats to go home.
Babette's is my favorite place to buy souvenirs and small gifts. For lunch they offer soups and various curries. Cake is available for coffee. There is an amazing selection of spices and books for chefs.
I recently revisited Babettes (At the farm branch I have never been in the Schleifmühlgasse) after an absence of at least 2 years. I was pleased that it had not changed: the curries still taste big advertising, the ambience is as cozy and welcoming as always, especially the front room where you sit under books and spices. It is not particularly cheap (currently 11,90 EUR for meat cure with an extra 1 EUR for a portion of rice), but very tasty and, in my opinion, fills the money so well. I only have all come to lunch and it is a nice way to turn off from work in a relaxed and stress-free environment... almost like a trip to a culinary spa. Will be back.
