Was Anonym at Phil Healys Pub a mag?
Our group was easily accommodated by pushing two tables together, but we chose to move because we were sitting right under a loudspeaker blaring music too loudly for comfortable conversation. We ordered roast beef, a veggie burger, and a regular burger. Everything was great except for the beef, which had been cooked too long and was dry instead of tender. However, the gravy, vegetables, potatoes, and Yorkshire puddin... View all feedback.
What Anonym dislikes about Phil Healys Pub:
The pub has a lovely ambiance, but unfortunately, the food consistently falls short. While there are occasional decent dishes, overall, the quality is subpar. I recently ordered fish and chips, which turned out to be the worst version I have ever tried, especially considering the pub is located in a coastal town. The pub has a lovely ambiance, but unfortunately, the food consistently falls short. While there are occasional decent dishes, overall, the quality is subpar. I recently ordered fish and chips, which turned out to be the worst version I have ever tried, especially considering the pub is located in a coastal town. The portion of cod was tiny, with only 10 chips scattered on top. There was no attempt to present the dish nicely, and no salad was included. The only saving grace were the peas.
Was in Phil’s last Saturday night about 8.30 asked girl behind counter if there was a seat available in restaurant area for 2 people she said yes told her we would be in in about 10 mins went into restaurant area and shown to our seats waited for approx 10 mins before we had to go get the menus ourselves another 10 mins before we were approached by a barman told him we wanted to order some food he said he’d send down a waitress to take our order waitress arrived not with a pen and order pad but with a message to tell us the kitchen was actually closed and chef had gone home!! So, between waiting for a menu, waiting for some semblance of service and then being told kitchen was closed I wouldn’t bother if I was you better service/food served elsewhere in the town!!
Our party of 6 was easily accommodated by pushing two tables together, though we decided to move as we were right under a loudspeaker spewing music at too high a volume to let us converse comfortably. We had 3 x roast beef, 2 x veggie burger and 1 burger, and all was grand except the beef had spent a bit too long in the oven and was dryish instead of the hoped for melt-in-your-mouth. But the gravy, veg, spuds and Yorkshire pud were top notch. Service was on the slow side and it was a pain to have to ask for drinks and dips more than once. But overall I'd be happy to recommend and to return. €123 for 6 full happy tummies.
Went for family meal at Phil’s. Staff super friendly warm and very accommodating! Portions were massive and very tasty! Kitchen had closed but they brought out a little token to celebrate a family members birthday!! Lovely atmosphere and chilled vibes. Would recommend to all!
