This is a busy restaurant so it essential to book. From the friendly welcome to the efficient waiting staff the experience has been enjoyable. My husband savoured the Morton Bay Bugs and I enjoyed the Swordfish, the special of the day. Of course we partook of a bottle of Wild Oats Rose and we enjoyed the ambience. It's Hamilton Island so you pay a bit more but I feel it's money well spent. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Mariners Restaurant:
Beautiful location, food was tasty, however $50 for a broth with 2 prawns , 3 tiny pieces of squid and small morsels of Moreton bay bugs is extortionate. Then there the $20 kids meal.....yes $20 for a tiny portion of fish and chips! Then there's the slow slow service, twice I ordered drinks and the staff simply forgot ! I would avoid this place, disappointment is the best word to describe the experience and value. View all feedback.
This restaurant presents itself as a step up from the hotel and resort options, and as far as atmosphere they are right. It is a great location, relatively quiet and nice decor . Customer service is adequate, certainly not exceptional but adequate. The food though is mediocre at best. I had the charred octopus entree and Moreton Bay bugs for main, both were little better, and possibly below, a pub meal standard. I also had a side of charred brocolini which was stone cold, wilted and soggy. The things that save ? This place from a much lower rating are the location and atmosphere. The pricing, given the quality was way too high and definitely not worth it.
We went to mariners last Sunday night in a group of friends and it was great! Service by Shiana very friendly and professional, great wine selection and food was to die for. We tried 6 entrees and 6 mains all to share, it was all very tasty and well executed. Tks Mariners team, we will be back to try your seafood platter.
Outstanding staff service and views. We had the special seafood platter for 2 which was plenty. Nice quiet restaurant overlooking the Marina and watched the sunset.
Like hamilton island this place is very pricey. Nice food but be prepared to pay for it and some! The booking we made was for. 2 course meal for three, there was no option for just choosing a main meal, only, it was either 2 course or three course. 2 course cost $85 per person and if you chose say moreton bay bugs they added another $25 with no explanation that this would happen. The wine was so expensive, $18 a glass. we passed and had water. They are obviously aiming at the elite market. They do not accept cash as hamilton island is cashless and this is a real, pain in the neck if you do not reside in Australia
Last night, our group of 6 went to Mariners for dinner. We found it to be quite expensive and felt pressured by an unfriendly waiter. We ordered a bottle of rose and white wine to share, but the waiter poured half of the rose into one person's glass, prompting us to purchase another bottle. It seemed like a clever upselling tactic. In the end, the meal was pricey and the overall experience was disappointing.
