Being a steakhouse I was hesitant to eat here as I'm a pescatarian, so when I checked out the menu online I was delighted to see lobster. However upon arriving there wasn't any on the menu. Not only that, what the 6 of us ordered was all char grilled burnt, when someone mentioned it we were told the food is meant to taste burnt.Never will I take two people to celebrate their birthday party there again.Oh I forgot to mention it took over 40 minutes for our foul food to arrive. They can not obviously handle the capacity in the kitchen.
This was our third or fourth visit to Squires Loft Nunawading, luckily, wasn't overly crowded which we've encountered before.Seating location against the wall was pleasant, was not surrounded by people walking between the tables and we were able to really enjoy ourselves. The service however needs a little improvement, was asked for drinks upon sitting down, then minutes later were asked for drinks by same waitress but we hadn't received our first order. When drinks did arrive, we were short a glass of wine despite ordering two.Mushroom and feta entrees arrived promptly and tasted as we'd expected from previous experience, the mains were very delayed and we had to follow up, at this point there was only three other tables in the restaurant all of which were eating their mains. My eye fillet was presented to me with salad only when I had ordered a baked potato. No apology offered, salad whisked away and a potato placed on the table, I had to then ask for sour cream and butter.Waitress began clearing water glasses, we had to advise to leave them as we still had half a bottle of sparkling water.Dessert menu variety was as expected, my apple and rhubarb crumble was below par, cold and the crumble was too fine like a crushed biscuit. The sticky date pudding was much more enjoyable however.Overall we were a little disappointed, especially considering all of the other Squires Loft locations that we have visited have been of a much higher standard. Squires Loft Torquay however is the best in terms of ambiance, presentation and customer service.
Been to other Squires Lofts, but first to the one in Nunawading. Not quite to the standard of the others - atmosphere is lacking, and, although the pricing is the same across the chain, still feel a little ripped off for what you get for your money.Positive was that the service was attentive and engaged, and the steaks are very good.
"The steaks were fantastic, the service was top-notch, and the prices were very reasonable. We dined in for dinner and found that the price per person was around A$40-60. The food was a 5 out of 5, service was a 5 out of 5, and the atmosphere was a 4 out of 5. We highly recommend trying the Eye Fillet and Chips."
