What User doesn't like about Montana Tap House:
great beer, but skip the food. Hawaiian pizza is a sin. tasteless cheese with too much fat content. cooks in a high heat, the brick oven imitates, but simply turns the pizza into a burned bland pizza with tasteless ham. American poutine tasted as if it had used package engraving to write nothing at home. weird dispensary next store sold me joints with 0% thc without telling me. kind of weird. View all feedback.
**Things I Like:** The beer selection is fantastic, the service is excellent, and the atmosphere is inviting. There’s plenty of seating available, the pizza is delicious, and it's dog-friendly with outdoor seating options. **Things I Don't Like:** Unfortunately, the rest of the food doesn't measure up. While their pizza is great, a small pizza costs $20, cheese sticks are priced at $12, and a burger is $14 on what feels like a slider bun. I understand that prices have risen, but the quality doesn't match what you're paying. You can find much better burgers for the same $14 elsewhere in town. It baffles me that sandwiches are priced higher than burgers. Additionally, I think $12 for an appetizer, especially something as simple as cheese sticks, is unreasonable, regardless of their size. Appetizers should be priced under $10, not equivalent to a full entrée.
Everyone seemed eager to leave, with chairs being stacked by 9:20 PM, which made us feel quite uncomfortable. The staff also didn't come across as friendly, and the food was just mediocre. Honestly, we would have been better off opting for fast food. Having worked in the restaurant industry for half my life in a tourist town, I understand the challenges that come with it, but this place just didn't leave a good impression at all.
The bartenders, location, and beer selection were all excellent—top-notch, in fact. However, the food fell completely flat, which was disappointing. I ordered a spinach salad without bacon, and it arrived as nothing but spinach and pecans. The burger patties were acceptable, but the sad, poorly arranged toppings and the cheap Walmart sesame buns made McDonald's and Burger King look gourmet in comparison. Paying $40 for three food items that were worse than fast food is just not worth it. Although it was busy due to the Big Sky festival, we waited 59 minutes for a small, simple order in the middle of the afternoon, well before the lunch and dinner rush. I recommend going for the beer, but eat beforehand. I hope they put a little more effort into the kitchen in the future because I would love to return someday.
We had a wonderful dining experience! The food was fantastic, and the service was attentive. We especially enjoyed the pizza and the burger. Oscar was happy to sit on the terrace since the usual dog area was still wet. Thank you for being so accommodating for our pup! We frequent this restaurant a lot between spring and autumn, often opting for the peacefulness of the terrace during the off-season. We had a great time and are looking forward to the day we leave our pup at home to enjoy the amazing ambiance indoors. It’s truly a fantastic place with delicious food and drinks!
Another family gem in Whitefish. There are deck chairs arranged around a cozy fireplace, along with regular tables and chairs. They offer a fantastic selection of fermented drinks, or you'll find something similar nearby. The restaurant even serves large cups of root beer for kids and teens. It's less crowded during the week, but of course, weekends can get busy!
