Everything was clean and welcoming. We had excellent service! While the breakfast others were eating smelled delicious, our group had a very nice lunch of assorted hot sandwiches. I would definitely return. View all feedback.
We stopped in to the River Lodge about minutes before closing on Labour Day Monday... and boy did we luck out!! The main lodge [including the restaurant] is all original whole log construction. It was impeccably clean. The decor crossed between antique and...tasteful rustic. The energy in the large, open concept, central room is phenomenal. Warm, cosy and oh so peaceful... I just wanted to curl up a chair and stay for a long while. Scanning the book shelves, I saw a thoughtful selection of pocket books, reference books, board games and other rainy-day things to do for both adults and children. An acoustic guitar, on a stand by the huge stone hearth, told me there would be some great fireside evenings with music, new friends and good conversation. We went on a tour of the second floor lodge rooms. Beautiful! Come out of your room and look right down, through the wooden beams and collectibles, into the lodge's central gathering place. The rooms were unique, bright, spacious, completely charming and, just like the main floor, incredibly clean. I think I said "Ahhh wow! in the doorway of every room. The restaurant is attached to the main room... through a large doorway. We didn't realize it was cash only so we cobbled a few dollars together between us and took a look at the menu. Our server said the breakfast for would be the best deal for us to share and it sure was. One meal split on two plates.. each egg a different style.. home fries.. two different slices of toast and I know that, rather than splitting a single slice of peameal bacon between us, Jacquie [server/cook/lodge owner] gave us each a whole slice of peameal out of the kindness of her heart. The "Closed" sign was now on the door and we had the distinct pleasure of getting to know both of the River Lodge owners, Jacquie and Steve, while we enjoyed our breakfast. One of the first things we discovered is that they make their own peameal bacon. It was the best peameal we've ever tasted tender, flavourful, not salty just excellent. The whole breakfast tasted like home. Steve poured us two cups of free coffee, which we sure appreciated. Our delicious breakfast and our conversation with the River Lodge owners, Jacquie and Steve, will be long remembered with a smile. What a treat! They are a lovely couple honest and fair with a great sense of humour. We inquired about the room and cabin rates and found them to be right on the money. We'll definitely be booking a cabin at the River Lodge the next time we go up to Manitoulin Island
We stayed about 30 minutes ago 3 clock on labour day montag in the river lodge. and young we were happy! the house [includes the restaurant] is all original whole log construction. it was perfectly clean. the decoration crossed between ancient and... tastefully rustic. the energy in the large open concept, central space is phenomenal. warm, cozy and so peaceful. I think I said, aw, in the door of every room. the restaurant is connected to the main room. through a big door. we didn't know it was just cash, so we cooked a few dollars between us and looked at the menu. our server said the breakfast for $8 would be the best deal for us to share and it was safe. a meal divided into two plates. every one of them is a different style. two different slices toasts and I know that, instead of sharing a single slice of peameal bacon between us, jacquie [Server/Kok/Löschen-Besitzer] gave us every one whole layer of peameal from the friendliness of their heart. the closed sign was now on the door and we had the special pleasure to meet both the river Lodge owners, jacquie and steve while we enjoyed our breakfast. one of the first things we have discovered is that they form their own radiant speck. it was the best peameal we ever tasted tender, tasteful, not salty only excellent. the whole breakfast tasted like home. steve poured us two cups of free coffee, which we certainly appreciate. our delicious breakfast and our talk with the river Lodge owners, jacquie and steve, are long remembered with a smile. what a tasty bite! they are a nice couple honest and fair with a big sense of humor. we have asked about room and cabin rates and found that they are directly on the money. we will definitely book a cottage in the river lodge when we go to the next time to manitoulin island!
The two owners who bought the place that was not in operation in over 20 years, really do their best to offer a pleasant stay. Although the rigor are mainly for RV use, camping with a tent is no problem, and there is more than enough. to write this review, warm water and a shower was missing, but the owners were still in this. the toilet was good. whitefish if is located on the east of the popular killarney provincial park, not far from manitoulin island. the east entrance of killarney is easy with kayak by widgawa lodge (what we did) and willisville. the direct opposite of whitefish in case also offers beautiful, peaceful traces and sights. the owners of the river lodge are happy to tell them about it! the breakfast is (right) famous! although the menu contains its fair share of meat (the first should be good), vegetarians are welcome and can expect delicious food. they serve all day breakfast and are open (at the time of writing) from 8:00 a.m. to 15:00 a.m. we would definitely get back to see the chipmunks, the beautiful restaurant and the warm welcome!

This log lodge, with 4 rooms and a couple cabins to rent, is being updated by a couple who bought it a couple years ago. They now have a restaurant as well as rooms. We, two couples, went there for breakfast but in this friendly...small town in Ontario were joined by a local friend who came in about the same time. We had delicious breakfasts of French toast, pancakes, sausages, eggs, biscuits, and fine fresh coffee. The log environment is warm, the hosts are friendly, the food is delicious.
