Stella's Table - White Lake
Stella's Table
Description
**Dining Experience at The Root: A Mixed Bag**
The Root presents a culinary experience that can oscillate between delightful and disappointing. While many patrons rave about the excellent food and attentive service, including standout dishes like the baguettes and chicken waffles, others express concerns over long wait times and poor music choices that disrupt the ambiance. Some diners commend the thoughtfulness shown during special events, yet others note inconsistencies in meal quality, such as underwhelming portions. Overall, The Root is a restaurant with potential, but it faces challenges that the new owners may need to address to truly resonate with its diverse clientele.

Tried Stella’s carry out for the first and last time today, food was good but wasn’t worth the price! Paid $19 dollars for the Sunday pasta and it didn’t even come with bread or soup/salad.. I understand inflation but come on. I will just continuewith highland house from now on!
We had reservations for two. It was our wedding anniversary and we wanted to try a new place, so we drove 40 minutes to Stella’s Table. We chose this restaurant because the reviews were generally good and the photos portraits a fine diningexperience. When we walked in we were seated at our table and immediately heard our soon to be server, Rachel, arguing with theother staff members that she did not want people seated in her section. This was a very loud argument, we were at the tableright behind the hostess stand and could hear this argument that was taking place by the kitchen bar area. When she came to ourtable we let it be known we heard her argument and would feel better if we were sat in another section. She moved us, then cameback and said “they’re making me take you guys.” It was an incredibly awkward experience for us. We were extremelyunderwhelmed with the entrees; shrimp pesto was bland and cold, the Cajun chicken risotto was watery. The black walnut oldfashion was the great. That’s about the only positive, other than that we could not wait to leave this establishment. We didnot ask to speak to a manager because we assumed that is who told our server that she had to take our table. We should have leftat that point though.
This is a very nice little place. The service was excellent. The food is on point. I had the piccata which was a little Bland until I squeezed some lemon on it. The calamari was cooked perfection. Got to say the portion was not very large. Squid is notexpensive. We had a nice bottle of wine for 30 bucks which I thought was reasonable. Everyone enjoyed their food. So I wouldhave to say that this is a very solid dining experience. I would not hesitate for a moment to go again. I was in the restaurantbusiness for many years as a younger person and know the difference.
My wife and I have dined at this restaurant twice, and we've thoroughly enjoyed both experiences. We're already looking forward to returning many more times. Heather, the Bar Manager, is fantastic, and our server during our most recent visit, Brittney, was excellent as well. On our first visit, we had pasta, and on our latest trip, we decided to try the pizza. I want to mention that my wife has a gluten sensitivity, and she stated that the gluten-free shrimp pesto was the best she has ever tasted, while the sweet potato pizza crust was exceptional! I highly recommend Stella's Table!
I ordered takeout from Stella's today and it will be my first and last time. While the food was good, I didn’t find it worth the price. I was charged $19 for the Sunday pasta, and that didn't even come with bread or a soup/salad. I get that inflation is affecting prices, but this seems excessive. From now on, I’ll be going to Highland House instead!
