The Country Farmhouse

I had lunch today and the food was exceptionally delicious and the service was incredible! This restaurant is a hidden gem located along the Trans-Canada Highway in the prairies.

We used to stop at this restaurant years ago and had a great experience. However, this time we found the staff to be rude. There were supposed to be antiques on display, but we couldn't find any. The outdoor deck was overrun with weeds and had stacks of decaying and rotten chairs. We drove 1 1/2 hours east to visit, but we were disappointed and will not be stopping here again.

We had dined at this restaurant a few years ago and it was good, so we decided to give it another try. This time, we happened to be there in the middle of the day and thought it was the perfect opportunity to check it out. I must say, I was quite disappointed with the experience. The decor was beautiful, with the restaurant being half gift shop, half dining area. The service was good, but the food left much to be desired. We both ordered Reubens and were let down by the thin, minimal amount of meat on the sandwich. The bread was not to our liking and something in the sandwich, whether it was the Russian dressing or the sauerkraut, was overly sweet and overshadowed the other flavors. To top it off, the sandwich was not even grilled. Overall, we left feeling disappointed and do not plan on dining there again. The one positive aspect was the gift shop, which had a variety of interesting country-themed items. My wife ended up purchasing a few gifts for our friends.

I was in the building for a Christmas party for an organization I belong to. the whole evening was much fun. we were warmly welcomed despite the minus 25 celsius weather and were placed on a place to hang up, buy them in. Drink and have addressed some delicious nibbelns. the whole place has an amazing collection of all kinds of gifts such as candles, jewellery, clothing and accessories. there are various types of crafts and arty dinge guaranteed they will be able to find a suitable gift for someone who has them mute. the dinner was a truthahn and a baked hamfest with all circumcisions that could be asked. the food was served family style and you could have as much or as little as desired. everything was the right temperature and tasty. I will go back there if possible and highly recommend it for a smaller assembly (I think up to 25 people.) what a jewel of a place in the middle of the prairie.
