We came to Weston at the end of September to visit the Vermont Country Store and see some fall gates. Due to the Kovid we ordered at the outside window but could eat at an interior table. The sandwiches we had were absolutely delicious. A Kob dog with sauerkraut, Dill Pickles, Vermont cheddar and Senf was the best dog ever. If we're back in the area, we'll definitely stop there. What David E doesn't like about Mildred's Grill:
A perfectly adequate ice cream experience on the grounds of The Vermont Country Store. They have ice cream, and other desserts. Multiple finger food options. Soft drinks. A nice little spot to sit outside on a warm day. View all feedback.
I was absolutely shocked to go to this place, discovering that the Bryant House, a charming look back on old New England, the excellent home dinner served in the midst of wonderful ambience, was gone. At its place is this pathetic do-it-yourself compound that could be found in any suburb strip center in America. I visited Vermont Country Store and Bryant House for over SIXTY years. It was hearty to see another example of fast and easy food that America has taken over, replacing what was a gem. Too bad in Vermont Country Store, although after the initial shock I can't say at the reflection that it comes as a total surprise. The country store itself, as it has turned into a big business, has gradually lost more and more of what made it a special place years ago. The former charm was largely lost. Unfortunately, a little real Americana was swallowed by the market.
Beautiful selection of sandwiches, good food in a beautiful environment. No typical fat dinner. Vegetarian options, would recommend.
We stopped here after shopping and limited options for lunch. Wife had ham cheddar on sour dough and I had Vermont cheddar burger. Good size sandwiches with good flavor. We both had a cup of New England clam chowder which was excellent as well. Didn’t like the big oyster crackers but don’t like oyster crackers anyways. Would stop here again.
On the way out of the next-door store we saw the signs for ice cream And decided to check it out. We were very glad we did so, the soft serve maple and vanilla twist was excellent and the hard dip maple walnut was very good. We plan on stopping again on our way back through!
