Price is definitely not 1.99 but I'll still be coming back for the chicken. Just come try the com ga. Dish is simple nothing fancy. Chicken is perfectly crispy, sauce is delicious, pickled veggies balances it all. Lots of rice when ordering togo. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Nha Hang $1.99:
Ordered takeout and it wasn't until I was eating did I notice that the restaurant gave me a melted styrofoam to-go tray. Probably melted from the chicken . This is so dangerous and careless. Beware View all feedback.
It's not surprising that the entrees are no longer priced at $1.99. The food is incredibly delicious and the portions are generous. I highly recommend the com ga chien. I've enjoyed this dish many times since I was a child, and it never disappoints!
I’m not Vietnamese, but I absolutely love their cuisine! It always feels like a home-cooked meal to me. I've tried the Cornish hen and the BBQ pork chops – both are delicious and come in generous portions. I usually place my order over the phone and pick it up after about 10 minutes. They’re quite efficient, and I’ve never had an order mix-up, even with the language barrier. Just a heads up, it’s cash only! I don’t think there’s an ATM on the premises, so make sure to come prepared. Also, note that they close at 9 PM.
I visited this place when the half deep-fried chicken was only $4.75. Although the price has gone up due to the overall rise in costs, it's still a great deal and much cheaper than other places nearby. The flavor is also superior to the deep-fried chicken from other restaurants in the area. I'm still a big fan of this spot!
Im not gonna touch on it too much bc it looks like a lot of the reviews have said pretty much the same thing I was gonna say. But the reason why I gave it 5 stars is bc the com ga (and the crack sauce) cannot be beat! Definitely the best in OC! Honorable Mentions: -Cash Only -Order ahead of time for take out -Plenty of parking
After several years abroad, I returned to the OC for a family funeral and stayed for a visit before heading off again. A relative walked in one day with a nondescript plastic bag carrying the signature whiff of Nha Hang $1.99 's chicken sauce, aka chicken crack. The inside of the bag was greasy with oil from the handling it was amusing to see the laxed service hadn 't changed. Neither had the recipe. Still the crisp, moist chicken and crazy addictive sauce I grew up knowing. Despite repeatedly needing to adjust the numbers to keep the lights on and certainly facing consumer backlash every time they raised the prices another increment or two, they protected the integrity of the recipe many of us grew up loving. Greatly appreciated! The creeping rate of inflation over the past decades has been slow enough for most of us not to really pay it any mind until fairly recently funny that we immediately notice hikes in gas prices, yet we don 't tend to make the association. When you 're a restaurant that started with a rock bottom profit margin in announcing all entrees at $1.99 (save the chicken rice, which was always slightly more $2.25, was it? , every penny counts between making rent, paying bills, procuring inventory, etc. and that 's before paying their own rent and bills. Growing up, the restaurant was packed every day come lunch hour and dinnertime. No matter how many times the prices were raised, the restaurant never suffered for lack of customers seeking good food at a great price. The employees were typically indifferent and occasionally rude I saw straws tossed at tables requesting them more than once. That said, they were often overcrowded with to go orders pouring in as well, understaffed to handle it all, and definitely not getting tipped well for their efforts. The restaurant name Nha Hang $1.99 certainly caught everyone 's attention and made for a convincing advertisement whether on Little Saigon Radio or for commuters driving past the popular intersection of the original location. The prices may have risen over the years, but the profit margin remains extremely low. Unfortunately, Nha Hang 1% Profit Margin doesn 't carry the impact value that declaring everything at $1.99 does. I wonder what the actual Yelp rating for the restaurant would be now if all the resentment from newcomers feeling duped by the name wasn 't a factor. Looking forward to visiting again when I 'm back in the area to compare to my version and see how close I am!
