Three Bear - West Yellowstone
Three Bear
Description
Dining at this restaurant offers a mixed bag of experiences. While the ambiance is inviting and the service generally friendly, the food often leaves diners underwhelmed. Highlights include well-prepared hash browns and standout drinks, but many dishes disappoint with lackluster flavors and insufficient portion sizes. Some patrons rave about the bison burger and meatloaf, while others criticize the frozen quality of certain items, such as chicken fingers and burgers. Despite the inconsistent food quality, attentive staff and a warm atmosphere create an enjoyable experience for those seeking a casual meal after a day of exploring.

I didn’t have a meal, but the food looked fantastic. The bar area is small and has a great local vibe. I enjoyed a few drinks and had a lovely conversation with the bartender, Isaac, and some of the locals. Thank you, Mike.
First of all, Brandon was exceptional! I ordered a lychee lemon drop, and it was one of the best drinks I've ever tasted. The meatloaf was delicious, and I highly recommend this place to anyone nearby. The history of the building and the business is also intriguing. It's definitely worth a visit and a return trip!
The food was excellent, and the cabin ambiance was lovely. The server showed great patience with my toddler. I ordered the bison burger (see picture), and it was fantastic. I also sampled the big game meatloaf and the bison steak, both of which were outstanding. I'm definitely looking forward to returning the next time we're in Yellowstone. However, I will note that the bison nachos resembled poutine more than traditional nachos.
I had dinner at this restaurant the other night and overall, it was a pleasant experience. The server was helpful, kind, and truly wonderful. For my meal, I ordered a 10oz Angus beef steak with a baked potato, and I also sampled their special dish, the Montana Bolognese—ribbon pasta with ground elk and bison in a bolognese sauce. The steak was delicious and perfectly cooked, while the Montana Bolognese was decent, earning a score of 8/10. However, I found the bread rolls to be a bit dry, and the baked potato clearly tasted microwaved. My main concern was the smoke-filled atmosphere, which caused me some breathing issues the following morning. While I probably wouldn't return, it's still a cozy spot worth trying at least once if you're in West Yellowstone.
