While many guests praise the spacious, comfortable rooms and friendly staff, some noted inconsistencies in the dining experience, especially regarding the quality of main meals and desserts. Many enjoyed well-prepared, nutritious dishes crafted by a new chef, though a lack of variety and freshness in sweets disappointed some diners. Overall, while Northfields exudes character and offers great value, improvements in consistency could enhance the experience for future visitors.
The new Chef and partner arrived in January 2022 and i benefited from their vision for the future of this lovely hotel and restaurant with regards to menus.... i loved all the food it was freshly cooked, nutritious, healthy and with high quality ingredients... huge protein portions and delicious puds tarte tartin pear tarte with filo pastry would win an award it was so gorgeous!!! A 4 course meal for about £25.... excellent value... i will definitely be back...
Part of the Northfield hotel. Ask for a table in this room. We were by the window so could see the beach and sea beyond
What a shame that our recent visit was marred by the poor choice of sweets as everything else was very good. The apple crumble on the first night was followed by pear crumble the next. We struggled to find any crumble at all. Other choices each night could be bought from a supermarket ie. profiteroles and Black Forest gateaux. We resorted to ice cream as nothing seemed home made or special. Frequent spelling mistakes on the board! eg . Vanila ice cream/profitroles/black forets
Visited for a short stay at Christmas. Furniture in the bedroom is very dated and the room generally looked tied. Our first meal was quite good but after that the quality deteriorated rapidly. Main areas of concern started with our second main meal when roasted vegetables were served. These were served with all remaining main course (even with Dover sole fish), they also got progressively burnt and on our last meal they were black. I heard one customer complain about the burnt roast vegetables and another guest refused to accept them (he was not offered an alternative). On the initial advert it states the Christmas Day buffet would be served in the Restaurant, in fact it was served in a cold, club type room and the standard of buffet was the worst I have seen. On the whole this was not value for the money paid, and would I visit again : No.
My husband, who has a disability, and I had a fantastic 5-day getaway at Northfields with Emjay Tours. The hotel was excellent with spacious rooms and great facilities. The food was outstanding, served by friendly staff. The bar prices were very reasonable, and it was lovely to relax in the comfortable lounges at night with complimentary coffees, teas, and mints, chatting with other guests.
