nice country pub. dog-friendly, but only a small bar area so they need to book when they want to eat and take their dog. good menu choices with a range of vegetarian and vegan dressing as well as meat and fish. the prices are reasonable. nb has closed all day on Wednesday. View all feedback.
What shoedocmo doesn't like about Badgers Holt Public House:
This place is hardly ever open according to locals. No signs of life but doesnt say it has closed “opens when his wife says he can” was one phrase. Very poor show View all feedback.
Excellent food reasonably priced and good beer too. Perfect
Very friendly staff, nice cosy pub and the food was good, tasty and big portion. We went early so it was quiet, which we prefer. Opens from 18pm and need to make reservation for food.
We were staying just up the road so decided to have dinner here on our first evening. It opens at 6pm (closed Wednesdays) and has an extensive menu, all home-cooked by the landlady. They have a lot of vegan and vegetarian options if that 's your bag. My husband and I had the fillet steak and sea bream, and my gosh it was good. Big portions, and it was all cooked to perfection. We consider ourselves foodies (terrible expression) and we 're really impressed how she got all this excellent food out to us and other diners, at the same time as as serving at the bar and waitressing. We couldn 't fault it. The salt and pepper squid was the best we ever had. We returned the second night and it was just as good! The landlord is a lovely chap too, but is quite poorly and they are trying to run their business as well as trying to deal with his illness (not an easy task). They may not be open every day because of this, so I 'd recommend phoning to check they 're open if you 'd like to go there (I think they only take bookings if you want food). I hope future guests will be more understanding and patient than the previous Google reviewer... the struggles people are going through aren 't always obvious.
A lovely, warm welcome awaited us, the food was great as was the service Very comfortable well worth a visit
A lovely country pub just across the road from the Exe Valley camp site and 2 minutes walk from the most picturesque cricket ground in the country. Friendly welcome dogs included and superb food. Vegetarian and Vegan on the menu. It was so good we went back the second night as well.
