We visited here on our last night whilst staying at the Burford Caravan Club site. This is a small typical Cotswold Pub, immaculately presented in a small hamlet off the Burford to Lechlade Rd turning on the crossroads to the Cotswold Wildlife Park. A small but varied menu and after a busy Bank Holiday Weekend some of the dishes was sold out but there was a choice of two dishes of the day on the specials board togeth... View all feedback.
What PontyPwl doesn't like about The Rose Crown:
I visited a nicely decorated rural pub, but it lacked atmosphere (mainly due to being a Tuesday lunchtime) and the bare walls didn't help. The service was good. I picked this pub mainly for the food (menus available on their website), but I found the selection to be limited and not up to par with what I would expect from a gastropub. The service was excellent and we had a great overall experience. I highly recommend this restaurant! Despite arriving on a rainy and unpleasant day, we were quickly met with a warm fire and flowing beer.
Even after looking at the menus beforehand, I was a bit disappointed with the food - it was alright but nothing extraordinary. I heard that the pub has recently changed ownership. I don't plan on returning.
On entering the pub the atmosphere was good and the welcome friendly. the food (Steak sandwich was tasty but not value for money . My last point is when we settled the bill a 10% service charge had been added, which my wife failed to notice when she settled the bill. nowhere did we see any sign stating this would be added to the final bill. Had we had a full evening meal this would have been acceptable.
The friendly staff at this restaurant ensure that you feel welcomed and well taken care of. The food from the extensive menu was delicious, and it was complemented by a few pints. I have visited this area multiple times and this is my favorite place to eat. I look forward to coming back soon!
Fabulous unspoilt village pub with a lovely atmosphere. Menu was a little limited in choice but quality of the food, presentation and service was very good, and reasonably priced lunchtime menu. I would visit again...
