What maisielane doesn't like about The Sanctuary Coffee Shop:
Tucked away in the back of a second-hand bookshop, we were directed here otherwise we wouldn 't have found it. The café was a bit cold and untidy, although the coffee was good. The weirdest thing was when a local came in for lunch, and the person serving apologised to him that 'someone is sitting in your usual seat '. This didn 't make us feel very welcome, and we left soon after so that the regular could have his se... View all feedback.
Massive selection of second hand books in a beautiful old building with many corners and bangs, and delicious coffee and cake to browse them.
Chock full of beautiful old and favorite books. I went with 2 separate reference books on printing and design away and lost the rest of my day! great! b.

At the first visit in sherborne I asked the dame for 2 books that I was looking for, she doesn't apologize, but I can find the other in what she called the unusual corner. I did not find the other book, but came with 6 books from this corner, so no half an hour. when I'm back there, I'll visit this loading, she even knocked 4 pounds of the total price!
The books located upon the shelves of this packed bookshop are no more expensive than any other second hand book shop that I have encountered. This is a gem of a shop with volumes galore and many hard to find titles residing on it's shelves. I collect military history and especially Divisional Histories I have found that these volumes are very hard to locate but I can always rely on Chapter house books to have at least one on the shelf or if not something of interest in the military history field for me to purchase. I always manage to come away with something to add to my library and once you have browsed and found that little gem of a volume you can then sit down with a coffee from the tea coffee shop onsite and relax, whiling away a few hours. The Staff are always friendly and helpful and Clare is extremely knowledgable, its by far the best second hand book shop Ive had the pleasure of visiting and I would highly recommend a visit to this little gem as these quality second hand book shops are fast disappearing. Go visit this shop you will not regret it.
