While the food is fine, there is an undeniable air of unprofessional behaviour from some of the older members of staff towards their young coworkers. Whilst waiting an unnecessarily long time for what ended up being middle of the road fish and chips, I witnessed some members of staff being incredibly rude towards the younger girl working at the counter. Although this young lady tried to remain professional and put on a brave face, it was clear to see that she was mortified after being berated in front of everyone. It's one thing to take ages preparing mediocre food but to patronise and belittle the teenage staff trying their best to help in the midst of such chaos is reprehensible. It is unacceptable to shout at any employees, especially in front of a room full of customers waiting for their food. I hope that the managers/owners can learn to treat their younger members of staff better in the future.
Always great fish and chips, had some great customer service today following a mix up with my online order. Super customer service and very much appreciated the phone call and resolution. Thank You
During our holiday in the area, we were recommended Graylings restaurant but we should have read the negative reviews beforehand. We ordered through click and collect as advised on the website, being told that the fish is only cooked to order. However, upon arriving to collect our food about 10 minutes early, we saw lots of pre-cooked portions of fish being kept warm in a heated cabinet, a bad sign. When we unwrapped the fish at home, we found it swimming in oil, with a hard and chewy batter and dry fish inside. It seemed the fish had been kept warm for too long or fried twice. Thankfully, the chips were edible but the fish ended up in the bin. Overall, a very disappointing experience that we will not be repeating.
Staying in the area for a month and had a craving for fish and chips ! Have to say this place looks like a great traditional chip shop. They were cooked to order and I waited about 7 minutes. When I got home and unwrapped them they were fabulous. Good piece of cod, excellent batter, great chips and some mushy peas. Need an excuse now to visit next week !
Located in a charming area, Graylings Restaurant offers a traditional fish and chips experience that has garnered a polarizing reputation. While some patrons rave about the fresh, expertly cooked dishes and commendable customer service, others express disappointment with pre-cooked meals and unprofessional staff interactions. Customers have highlighted issues such as oily, overcooked fish and lengthy wait times alongside concerns about staff treatment. Despite the inconsistent feedback, many enthusiasts describe Graylings as a must-visit for its flavorful offerings, particularly when craving authentic fish and chips. As the restaurant navigates its challenges, it remains a local favorite for many.
