Unfamiliar with Newbury; but glad I randomly chose this cute cafe down a side alley in which to have my morning caffeine fix and sugar hit. They served me an outstanding, rich Americano and a lush, moist, generous slice of courgette-and-avocado cake. I don't like courgettes or avocado; but I don't like carrots either and love carrot cake. So I guessed this would be like carrot cake and it was! Live the paradox, as so... View all feedback.
Have been here a handful of times and each time had a lovely experience. the staff are wonderful and really make it. Food and drinks have always been fab too!
I love this cafe. It’s been in Newbury for several decades . Staff are always friendly and accommodating. They know their regular customers and people comeback all the time .it’s perfect for a light lunch or coffee and cake . Child and grandparent friendly
Escellent service, very good value. (they even have newspapers to read) Very pleasant staff, who understand customers, especially ones that have visiited before.
This was the worst breakfast I have ever had!! The service provided by Heidi from South Africa was excellent, I cannot fault her in any way. However, the food was terrible. I ordered the small breakfast for £6.80 which included eggs, bacon, sausage, black pudding, beans, and toast. I also ordered a pot of tea. I declined the beans and asked for extra bacon. However, when the plate arrived, it only had 1 cheap sausage, 1 scrambled egg, 1 tiny piece of black pudding, 2 tasteless rashers of bacon, and 1 small slice of toast. Where was the extra bacon? The portion was small, flavorless, and appeared cheap. The brown sauce in the sachet was disgusting. To my surprise, when I went to pay, the total came to £9.10. I was not aware that the tea was an additional charge. Paying £10 for a breakfast like that is a rip-off to me. I do not mind paying if the taste and quality are good, but unfortunately that was not the case at this cafe. I rarely write negative reviews, but in this instance, I felt it was necessary to point out. It was such a disappointment, as a full English breakfast is not difficult to cook.
Today I enjoyed my favorite lunch, a salad platter with tuna. It never fails to impress me. Despite being very busy, the staff were extremely helpful and cheerful. While there are many dining options in Newbury, I always find myself coming back to this restaurant whenever I am in town.
