What Josh M doesn't like about The Monument:
This was the last place I called into as part of a Newbury pub crawl. With its low beamed ceiling, roaring fire 1970’s music playing in the background, the pub has a cosy olde-worlde feel. There is a very limited selection of real ale though (two on tap). View all feedback. What User likes about The Monument:
the interior is dated, the toilet floor of the men is loose and it can be quite rugged. on the plus side, but everyone I spoke is really friendly and everything I had to drink was pleasant. it will be very busy for some sporting events, so if you want a table, they will get there early. there is a lot of television to see and they can both show. champions league games at once there is also a garden for those of you w... Used to be our favourite Newbury pub pre-covid but little ale choice nowadays but the Guinness is well kept. Bring back the real ales please.
A decent pub for hangout and play a pool game, snooker board is there
Played pool and had cheaper than normal Stella perfect.
We popped in here on NYE afternoon and the ambience was really good... wanted to return for NYE but all booked. Will return again whe we visit Newbury again.
Great little pub full of atmosphere. No silly prices either. Good live music venue

read moreThe Monument in Newbury offers a cosy olde-worlde atmosphere with low beamed ceilings and a roaring fire. While the ale selection is limited, the Guinness is top-notch. The bar staff are incredibly friendly and provide fantastic service. The pub adheres to COVID rules and has a clean and welcoming environment. With great prices, live music on Saturdays, and a lovely garden for smokers, it's the perfect spot for a drink with friends. The only downside is the dated interior and occasionally crowded men's restroom. Overall, The Monument remains the best pub in Newbury, a must-visit for locals and visitors alike.
One of our Newbury favourites but unfortunately not the real ale choice compared to pre-covid. Still the Guinness is good and there's always a great atmosphere.
